Chapter 10 by Alostsoul Alostsoul

What persona do you choose for the cafe?

Happy, energetic, with just a hint of chaos.

Taking an Uber back to school you find there’s about half an hour before school ends. Telling the Uber to drop off at the same road you were picked up at, you cuy through the forest till you can see the school building. Then you just sort of wait out the 30 minutes, counting down the minutes till the school bell rings. Once it does though you exit the woods, and slink up to the back of the building. Then casually you walk around the side to slip into the crowd of other student rushing to get home.

This leaves your mom none the wise that you had just skipped out on the whole school. Walking to the school parking lot you see her car, and quickly rush over.

“Hey mom.” You say casually as you take a seat in the passenger side.

“Hi Doug did you have a good day at school?” You mom greets you with a cheerful smile.

“Yeah it was alright nothing to notable happened.” You says lying through your teeth.

“Well that’s good.” Your mom says, her starting to pull the car out of parking lot.

The car then goes quiet for a few minutes after that only for mom to again pick up the conversation as you begin the drive home.

“So are you in the mood for anything in particular for dinner?” She asks making a right turn down a road.

“Ummm can we get pizza?” You ask crossing your fingers in a hope that your mom will say yes.

“Hmmmm okay but you’ll have to decide with your sister about what toppings you want.”

“Right okay”. You reply with a nod of the head.

The conversation then dries up again. Though as you start to near your home you begin to think about the cat cafe again. Bouncing one of your legs nervously you feel your stomach start to tie in knots. It feels like is the only time you would be able to lie to your mom, and not have her be suspicious. Her focus split on driving she probably isn’t going to think to deep about anything you say really.

“Hey mom...” You speaks slowly, feeling the prickle of anxiety all over.

“Hmmm what is it honey?” She asks eyes still on the road.

“Well I’ve been thinking of getting a part time job.” You choose your words careful trying to sound as natural as possible when speaking, less your mom thinks somethings up.

“Oh what promoted that?” Your moms words having a hint of curiosity in them as she speaks.

Seeing her look at you from the corner of her eye, you put on a straightest face you possible can. Looking out the window nonchalant you shrug, trying your best not to fidget, or squirm. Playing it casual you try not make the thing seem like such a big deal, in a hope that in turn your mom will treat it the same.

“Ah you know just looking to get some more money.” You say, quickly flicking your eyes over to check if your mom was actually buying this.

“What exactly were you thinking of working as?” Your mom asks.

“Oh I was thinking maybe a waiter at a Cafe or something like that.” You say not able to help rubbing the back of your neck awkwardly.

Really theirs no reason to lie about what occupation you’ll be taking. Besides it’ll make lying a lot easier later if the core lie is closer to the truth.

“What made you choose that?” Your mom asks, seeming to becoming more, and more attentive to the conversation by the second.

This makes you start to sweat, as the last thing you need is for her to try and, incert herself into a job search that wasn’t happening. If she takes the initiative to get actively involved in this that would lead to more questions, and more lies that you would have to make up. Not only that if she’s considers this part time job some big step in your life for some reason she is REALLY going to keep an eye on the whole thing.

After all your mom does try to do her best to make time for you, and your siblings when ever she thinks she needs to. Despite being a single parent, and lawyer she can be very nosy if she thinks you or your sisters are getting into trouble. Part that is due to your father being gone. She always wants to make sure that even with only one parent you never alone, and some one is always looking out for you. Yet this... this is one hundred percent something you didn’t even want her thinking about you doing, let alone her finding out about. Just imaging the trauma your mother would go through if she found out the son she raised since birth, was taking cash to be some cat-eared sex worker. Such a thing HORRIFIES you! You must make sure that doesn’t happen at any costs!!

So quickly you thought up some cleaver answer that would satisfy her, and keep her from asking more questions.

“I thought it would be a decent job to gain social skills for interacting with people, and give me some exercise as I keep walking around.” You speak trying to sound as confident in that answer as you can.

“Oh well that’s very responsible, I’m proud of you!” You mom exclaims, glad that your thoughtful when picking a part time job.

You breathe a sigh relief, your mom appearing to be overwhelmingly pleased by your reasons. There is a tinge of guilt in your gut as you could here how proud she was in her tone. She probably thinks your growing up in to a intelligent young man. Taking initiative, and having such foresight at even a entry level job, not ever teen your age would do something like that. It feels so wrong to have her hold such a high opinion of you when the truth is so much less glamorous. Some can say it’s even shameful. Still it’s better then her finding out the truth so you keep your mouth shut, and just nod happily to her praise.

Luckily you don’t have to stew in your emotions of shame, and self loathing for long as you soon pull up to your house. Hoping out of the car you quickly rush inside, and up to your room, trying your best to leave those dreadful feelings of your in the car. Shutting the door to your room you breathe another sigh of relief, this time completely letting go of any negative emotions.

Flopping back on your bed you then feel a growing excitement as the reality of your situation dawns on you. Thinking back to the cafe your heart starts to beat faster. Remembering Cora, and Nico the two cat girls who fawned over you as you ate a delicious meal. Remembering how they then took you right there under the table. Their cocks penetrating you from both ends, ripping from you a orgasm so powerful you passed out.

Now your given a chance to be in the other end of that experience. You mind floods with a thousand of thoughts of what that might be like, what will you feel, what will you see, how will the whole thing play out? More importantly how will you act? That leads into your current objective, finding a mystique that the girls you would be serving, and servicing at the cafe would like. You have watched one or two anime, but they were super mainstream. If you want to really provide that cat boy come to life experience, you were going to have to research some anime that not every one and, there grandmother has already watched. Grabbing the remote for the tv in your room you sit up, and hit the power button. Your monitor then springs to life, and you start navigating through the stream channels your family had. Stopping at the one that specialized with only anime you select it, and begin to scroll through the numerous shows.

There’s everything from eccentric anime’s about princess fairies, and si-if robots suits. All the way to more mundane anime’s about normal teenagers in high school, or a single parent raising a child. Really it’s kind of staggering see the vast scope of what kind of anime’s were out there. You’ve never seen a media have such a repertoire of plots, themes, and interests. So overwhelming are the choices that you opt to just close your eyes, and picking on at random.

Then opening your eyes you take a look at the show you picked. The splash page shows a young man with horn’s, looking very overwhelmed surrounded by a bunch of women in fantasy outfits. The title of the show reads as ‘I’m A Demon Lord Who Was Reincarnated As The Hero!!!’ three exclamation points in the title. Deciding this show looked good as any you put on the first episode, and laid down on your bed.

The show appears to really be a comedy at heart. Relying on the awkward humor of the demon lord trying to hide his evil nature from the world, and his party as they set off to save the world. There are fight scenes too, which as expected with most anime’s are brilliantly animated. By episode 2 you were already a fan falling in love with the humor, and characters.

One character in particular that catches your eye is the young squire that is tasked with assisting the demon lord turned hero. She’s a short little blonde in a ponytail who follows the hero around like a lost puppy. She’s idolizes him, and is always seeing everything he does through rose tinted glasses. This ends up with some very funny moments as even when the demon lord’s true nature slips, and he does something not heroic she has such a cognitive dissident she will rationalize it as him doing something good. Besides that she’s always volunteering the hero to commit selfless, acts mostly against his own will, which leaves the demon lord doing things like caring for a baby, or taking on grueling labor to help out an old man. The squire is most definitely the best character in the series, and you find her both lovable, and super adorable.

Because of her you end up binge watching the whole first season, shutting yourself in your room for the rest of the day, and only coming out to get some of that pizza your mom ordered. You watch till eventually it gets late, and you have to turn for bed, less you risk not getting enough sleep for tomorrow.

In the coming days time really flies by for you. With you spending your days researching anime’s, while also doing normal every day things. Between home work, and school you squeeze in any time you can to watch a ton of anime, and even read a bit of E-book mangas. Some times just to get other’s perspective you even go on online forums revolving around anime. On the net you go to look up what’s considered most popular characters, or find out what people enjoy about their favorite anime’s. This is especially helpful as your able to pick up tropes, or character archetypes that people commonly enjoy.

You really find out so much about anime, it being a lot deep then you first thought. Certainly more deep then any American cartoons or animation. Like there’s a subset of anime archetypes known as dere characters. The dere characters usually having some type of love for another character from the show. Simple you think? Well actually not so much, there are so many subtypes of a dere characters. There is tsundere, yandere, goudere, dandere, Himdere, and more! An since the dere archetypes have a lot to do with love those might be the best to focus the core of your persona around the deres. With two in particular catching your eye. The deredere archetype, which is a character who is cheerful, and sweet about their affection, As well as the Hiyakusadere an archetype who loves to tease their love interest though not enough to actually humiliate or hurt them like sadoderes.

These two archetype combined make up the perfect role to you. A character who is upbeat, energetic and also a bit unpredictable. The bold type who lives by the whims of their cheer, passion, and, emotions. They are quick to befriend people, and even quicker to come up with tons of hair brained ideas, or pranks. Sort of like the side character that’s always hanging out with the main character, and accidentally roping them into trouble. Or enjoys teasing them, and making them all flustered. Yeah that is the character that speaks to you the most, the one that you have the most connection with. After all you’re a pretty friendly guy, and with your experience with sisters you know how to poke fun at some one with out pushing things to far.

With your personality for your cat boy role, already decided a half week in, you spend the rest of the time researching dere, and
Things with your mom seem to go rather smoothly as well too. She gives you more then enough room for you to make sure she doesn’t find the truth about your. You guess it’s because she thinks that you’re actually being responsible for once, and she doesn’t want to potential mess things up for you by getting all overly protective mom on you. Though she does make sure to remind you that if you ever need help she’s always for you.

Before you knew it though, the big day has arrived. Mixture of excitement, and nervousness fills you as you wake up that morning. Hurriedly you get all dressed, and. cleaned up for the morning. Even making sure to take extra care when combing your hair so that stays in a neat sweep to the side. As mom then calls you to come down stairs you grab your backpack, and rush out the door.

“Wow you certainly energized this morning.” Says you mom as she notices she didn’t have to drag you out of bed for school today.

“Well I just want to be ready for the job you know, wanted to make sure everything was in order.” You speak honestly, as that is the truth believe it or not.

“Whaatttttt no way you got a job why didn’t you tell me?” Your younger sister Sarah who is in the back seat whines, appearing to be very offended you hid this from her.

“Because I knew you would be all up in my business about, it and I didn’t need you bothering me about it.” You retaliate, with a curt reply as Sarah glares at you.

“I wouldn’t I never bother you!” Sarah exclaims with indignation, looking a little bit hurt by your comment.

“Come on you two no fighting while I’m on the road” Your mom says as she begins the drive to your school.

You sigh, turning back to look at your sister your expression softens. You can’t be to mad at Sarah, she’s alway been good to you, and the two of you got along well ever since you were little. Yet she can be a little bit annoying, clingy, and even worse veryyyyyy nosy. Obviously if you told her anything about this job she’s would try and, sniff out every little detail. Which would make keeping this whole thing a secret that much harder.

“Look this thing is kind of stressful for me as is, so can please not pester me on this, please Sarah?” You beg with an apologetic tone in your voice as you stare at Sarah.

Sarah looks at you for a few second. Her face looking to be on cusp of either anger, or sadness. Whichever one it is you didn’t know, but you do know that she’s pretty upset with you. Feeling both betrayed that you would keep this a secret, and that you yelled at her. Still logic seems to triumph over her emotions as she can see on your face that this is important to you for what ever reason.

“Fineeeeee....” She says rolling her eyes like YOU were the one be overdramatic.

“Thanks you.” You say sincerely as you give Sarah a grateful smile.

She pouts, but then gives you a small smile back.

“You have to hang out with me after you job today to make up with me though.” Sarah says, speaking like you don’t really have a choice in the matter.

Knowing it’s better not defy her when she makes such stern proclamations like that you just nod your head.

“Fine, fine, but lets not do something to demanding I don’t know how worn out I will be from work.” You says.

“Sure, whatever you say you big baby.” Sarah teases while sticking out her tongue, and winking at you.

With that the rest of the ride to school is uneventful, though your mom did ask of you needed a ride to your new job. That sends a jolt of panic though you, but you quickly dismiss the offer reminding her you saved up for an Uber. To which she her response to that is “that is very responsible of you!”

When you finally arrive at school the day seems to just drag on. Classes feel like they take days instead of 30 minutes like they are suppose to. More then likely due to you being so pumped up at starting your job at the cat cafe. The nervousness that you did have during the week had all but faded away as you studied, and practiced hard. Getting down the motions, the attitude, how you would act, how you would speak, you had it down to a T. Counting down he seconds it feels like a year till the finally he’ll rings, yet when it does you particularly sprit out of school. One or two teachers yelling at you to slow down as you do. You don’t listen though keeping stride till you throw open the front doors to the school. Upon which you immediately feel silly as you realize you still have to wait for the Uber driver, and that there was not real point in rushing

So then doing some more waiting after you quickly order the Uber, you pace back, and forth on the side walk as the other student pour out of school. Them either getting picked up by the bus, parents or just walking home. Standing around awkwardly you can do nothing to sate your growing eagerness. You taking your phone out every five minutes just to check how much time has passed, and try to guess how much time is left. Luckily It doesn’t take long though for your Uber to rock up.

“Pick up for Doug?” A brown haired girl in her mid twenties asks you as she rolls down the window.

“Yeah that’s me.” You say getting into the passages seat with out even being promoted to.

“Oh uh, like okay then just hop right in I guess.” The girl says a little surprised you just in like that.

She then turns the wheel to the car, and starts to pull away from the school curb. Driving to the end of the parking lot, she then makes a fast u-turn. The car’s tires squeak, and you rock back, and forth as the car’s body catches up with the frame. Despite driving pretty recklessly the brown haired woman seems perfectly calm, and casually. Her even blowing a big bubble from the cherry flavored bubby gum she is chewing.

“So like what even is this place, like a restaurant for cats?” She asks in heavy valley girl accent speeding out of the school parking, at a pace definitely over the speed limit.

The girl definitely seems like one of those spoiled rich. Her seeming almost annoyed that she has to pay attention to the road as she keeps slipping glances at her phone which she holds in her other hand. She has on thick round sunglasses with a tiger pattern, and a strong amount of perfume that make her smell almost like the whole woman’s cosmetic aisle. On her left wrist is a row of 5 to 7 bracelets that all rattle against each with the slightest move of her arm. For a top she has on simple black crop top that shows off her belly, and for bottoms a pair of short jean shorts that have a expensive looking belt at the front. On her feet she is wearing a pair of high top sneakers that look so crisp you’d think they just came out of box.

“Ummm hello earth to you I asked you a question.” The woman blabs at you with an annoyed tone.

You shake you self from the stupors you were just in, being paralyzed for a second that you were going to die the girl’s driving was that bad.

“H-huh no it’s like a place where AHHHHH, people go to get served by guys, and girls dressed up like cat maids.” You explain screaming mid sentence as this mad woman almost swerves into the opposite lane.

“Oh I know that, that’s like one of those anime things right?” The woman asks turning her head to look at you.

“PLEASE WATCH THE ROAD!!” You scream as again the car starts to drift in to the other lane.

“Woah hey don’t scream like that you going to make me crash you psycho.” The girl yells at you as she pulls the steering wheel back just in time.

Your a psycho? This girl is the one whose insane she seems like she can barely drive. Does-does she even have a license?

“Where did you learn to drive?” You say as you hold onto the dash board for deal.

“Uhhhhhh I learned last week that’s when I got my license.” The girl replies earnestly seeming to actually have to think about the answer for a longer then comfortable time.

Well that makes sense why this girl is such a bad driver, you’ll be sure to send a complaint to what ever dmv thought it would be a good idea to give her access to an automobile. That is if you survive this.

Which some how, you actually do. After more then few close calls where you thought you would’ve been road kill you make it to the cafe.

“Wow so this is the place, huh?” The woman asks sticking her head out the window to try to per inside the dinner.

“Yes, yes this is the place thank you!” You exclaim scurrying out of the woman’s car as quickly as possible.

“Hey wait, remember to give me five stars or whatever on the app.” She calls out after you.

Not even turning back to respond you just head straight int the dinner with out a even a word. Five stars??? She’s lucky you don’t report her to the police for that kind of driving let alone give even one star! Still as you step inside the cafe that horrible driving experience quickly leaves your mind. Instantly the smell of delicious food hits your nose. Your mouth already starting to salivate as you watch a tray full of bacon, and eggs pass you. The person holding the tray of scrumptious breakfast being a ginger haired cat girl whose tail sways in-synch with her walk behind her.

“Hey your here.” A familiar voice says snapping you awake.

Turning to your side you see the door man Josh, or manager Josh sitting by the podium by the door. Well actually he’s more so just your boss Josh rather then anything else now.

You open your mouth to speak but, he puts up a hand to cut you off.

“There’s a women in the locker room who will help you get ready, and explain what you need to do get going.” He speaks simply as he points a thumb behind him towards the hallway to the back rooms.

You nod your head, and do as asked walking back to the employee area. Heading down the hallway you try the first door on the left, which upon creaking it open you can tell this indeed the locker room. Though your kind of confused why there would be a woman in the Man’s locker rooms. Isn’t that just some sort of lawsuit just waiting to happen? Whatever the case you press on opening the door all the way to see an ebony girl with an Afro helping do the make up of a neko maid.

“Aaaand done, okay you go get’em girl!” The woman in the Afro says with a little cheer, as she puts the finishing touches on the neko maid.

“Alright thanks Jewels.” The cat girl replies as she stands up to head out.

“Oh uh excuse me.” The girl says as she slips past you to head out of the locker room.

The Afro lady which you assume is named Jewels then looks up to see you.

“Ah you must be the new boy, here your uniform is in that locker grab it out for me while I get some stuff to do you over okay doll?” The lady asks before then darting around the corner to grab somethings.
Despite this still being a little strange you listen going to open the locker the Afro lady had pointed at. Opening the locker your eyes then go wide as you see what your uniform is.

What is your uniform?
