Hannah wakes up early. It’s her company’s in-office day, and she’s got to take the subway all the way downtown. They won’t get much work done today, but at least she’ll see some of the guys she’s usually herding as project manager face to face.

She gets out of bed in just the pair of panties she slept in. After making her bed, she lays out her outfit for the day. A slit satin skirt, a casual tank, a bra, and a cardigan to layer when the office AC gets too punishing. After brushing her teeth, she has a cup of coffee and pulls out her phone. She swipes a few times on the dating app to kill time. Some guy with a fishing profile pic slides into her DMs: hey.

Well, nothing to say to that. That’s not even a question. She puts her phone away and walks up to the bed. She’s got to get the office clothes on, get downstairs, and jump on the subway. She hears a voice in her head, like a thought she can’t quite capture. It feels important.
