What does Gwen do?

Gwen Sticks to Jolyne

Spider-Gwen let herself drop a little before sticking to the side of the building, positioning herself right underneath the dust cloud. The single lens on her mask narrowed alongside her exposed eye as she glared at Jolyne. From her position, she could see the ex-convict was still facing toward the dust cloud, looking at what was presumably Gwen's position, unaware that she had repositioned herself to now be below her. Gwen raised her single web-shooter up and fired a web out; the web flew upward and expanded slightly, growing big enough that it had enough weight behind it that it could land on Jolyne's right hand and **** it up to her left hand, binding the Joestar's hands together against the building.

Jolyne glanced up at her now-bound hand before looking down at her opponent. With Gwen's hand still poised to fire out another web at her, Jolyne needed to both free herself from her bindings and protect herself from the superheroes next attack at the same time. Which the stand user could most definitely do. Watching as Gwen fired out a web-line toward her, Jolyne sent「STONE FREE」forward to intercept it, the stand grasping onto the thread and yanking it toward it, forcing the hero to fly upward. At the same time, Jolyne would free herself from the webs by unraveling her hands, allowing the threads that made up her hands to slip through the gaps in the webs. Of course, doing this meant Jolyne would also have to bring those threads keeping her attached to the wall out as well, causing the Floridian to fall down.

The blondes were about to intercept one another, with Jolyne being more than prepared to attack as「STONE FREE」 brought its fist back, ready to slam it into the hero involuntarily flying upward. Or involuntarily was what Jolyne had thought, as Gwen smirked upon feeling her spider-sense go off. When the heroine got into range of 「STONE FREE」's attack, Gwen simply stuck her legs out underneath her, allowing the tips of her feet to connect with the wall of the building. Then, using her superhuman strength, Gwen pressed off of the surface, sending herself flying upward from just the **** of her toes alone.

Jolyne's eyes widened as she watched the Spider-Woman hop over her attack, somersaulting through the air toward her. The stand user gritted her teeth in anticipation as she tried to form a barrier with the threads from her unraveled hands, but it was far too late to do that as Gwen crashed into Jolyne's pelvis feet first. Jolyne's eyes rolled to the back of her head momentarily from the **** of the impact. A fifty-six kilogram woman had just crashed into her after flying at a speed almost comparable to the speed of sound; if it were anyone less, they would have been out of the fight from that attack. But Jolyne managed to just barely tuff it out, even with the additional pain of her back being slammed against the wall. The back of Jolyne's top ripped slightly from the impact as it was **** to brush against the rugged surface of the wall as the two women began to make their descent to the ground.

The two fell downward for a few seconds before Gwen bent her back backward, performing a handstand on the vertical surface while keeping the soles of her feet stuck to Jolyne's body, forcing her to stop her descent as well. "Don't worry, I've got you." Gwen taunted with a wink before swinging her legs forward, throwing the stand user off of her and into the wall of a building across from them. The makeshift skirt Jolyne was wearing tearing off due to the adhesive **** of Gwen's powers. The Joestar crashed into the side of the building hard enough to crack the concert wall behind, causing the back of her top, which had already been reduced to just a few threads from Gwen's earlier attack, to fully come undone. Her top fell off of her chest and to the sidewalk below, leaving Jolyne in only her sock, bra, and underwear. The ex-convict spat out some blood before beginning to fall down once more before being abruptly stopped when a web hit her left forearm, adhering it to the wall. Then another web came, hitting her right arm, before two more came and hit both of her legs.

Like a fly trapped in a web, Jolyne was now stuck against this building's side, her seafoam green eyes darting between the webs on her arms. "Should've just let me take you in earlier," Jolyne turned her head to face the direction of her opponent, who was calling out to her from across buildings. Spider-Gwen was at the top of her building, her opposite hand pressed against her web-shooter, causing it to fire out a single split web. The two ends flew off quite a distance away, and eventually one end landed on a nearby billboard posted on top of the building and the other end landed on a rooftop water tower. Once the line was created, Gwen hoped right over it and began to press her back against it. When the line didn't snap from the **** being applied to it, the Spider-Woman would begin to take a few steps back, forcing the line to move back with her. Her adhesive powers allowed her feet to stay firmly on the ground as the line attempted to reset itself to its original position, the elasticity of the web-line being put to its limits as Gwen reached the other edge of the building. "Cause now you're in whole heap of trouble." Spider-Gwen threatened as she stood on top the parapet of the building.

Jolyne scowled at the sight of this; it was clear to her that her opponent had created a rudimentary, human-size slingshot for herself. She was clearly planning to launch herself right toward her; if it were any faster than the attack she had done previously, then it would be even more devastating. The stand user glanced down at her hips; something was no doubt broken, though due to her ability, that was more of an inconvenience. Using her threads, Jolyne would send them inside her and begin to mend any broken bones in her lower body, holding them in place. It didn't take away the pain, so she'd just have to tuff it out—nothing she couldn't handle. Though she did find it annoying how much damage had been done to the lower half of her body—first her bruised legs and now some broken bones—moving around was going to be quite bothersome. Jolyne looked back up to her opponent; any second now she'd make her move, causing her to scoff. If she had to guess, her opponent was most likely waiting for her to make a last-minute surrender; she was a hero after all. But Jolyne had no plans on playing her game—none in the slightest; in fact, she'd take her head on. The threads that made up Jolyne's hand began to reform; she would not free herself from her new binds; she would not move. No, if Ms. Hero wanted to come right at her, then Jolyne would let her.

Gwen held her position for a bit, waiting for a response from her foe, even a snarky one. But nothing came; the silence was more than telling that her enemy had no plan on giving up. "Alright, have it your way." Gwen sighed before lifting her feet off the ground. With nothing keeping the line in place, it would snap back to its original position, sending Gwen flying as a result. The hero soared through the air at a blinding speed, looking like nothing but a black-and-white blur to anyone bothering to look up at the moment. As she quickly closed the distance toward Jolyne, the alternate Spider-Woman would pull her fist back, preparing one hell of a haymaker. Within a fifth of a second, the gap had been fully closed as Gwen threw her fist forward, crashing directly into the ex-convict. The concert that made up the building side cracked and upheaved ever so slightly from the **** of the impact, forcing dust into the air.

What should've felt like a moment of victory felt completely wrong to Gwen. For one, it didn't feel like she had made contact with Jolyne at all; all she felt when she took that punch was the hard surface of the building underneath her knuckles. And two, this all felt a bit too easy; her foe didn't attempt to flee or give up, nor did she bother fighting back since her Spider-Sense hadn't gone off once during her entire trip. It couldn't have been that she evaded the attack at the last second; not only was she bound in place, but Jolyne certainly wasn't fast enough to move out of the way. Sure, her "evil spirit" could keep up with her, but Jolyne herself was only human... Or at least Gwen guessed she was human. So, during this moment of being blinded by the dust, Gwen had become visually impaired, but that didn't stop her from knowing what was going on around her. Her Spider-Sense gave her full awareness of what was going on around her, which made it more baffling that it was telling her that Jolyne was still directly in front of her.

"All things considered, you're actually pretty fast." Jolyne spoke up from inside the dust cloud, causing Gwen's head to dart up in its direction. As the dust cloud cleared, it was revealed that Gwen was practically face-to-face with Jolyne, the stand-user, meeting Gwen's surprised eye with a look of indifference. But what was more striking was the massive hole in Jolyne's body. No, not from Gwen punching a hole through with her fist, but instead just a missing gap in her body. There was no damage to her; it was almost as if the entire left side of her torso was always missing. Gwen's eyes would expand to their largest size possible at the sight of this; she knew her opponent could manipulate her body in weird ways, but not to this extent. "But when you're up close like this," Jolyne began to taunt, her eyelids narrowing slightly. In a split second, Gwen felt a hand wrap itself tightly around her neck, forcing her back slightly. Her spider-sense had blared out just a split second afterward. Gwen let out a chocked yelp in surprise; her foe had just attacked her faster than spider-sense. "Personallly, I think you're slow as all hell."

A stand's range and power are inversely proportional; the further a stand moves away from its user, the weaker it gets. For users of a long-range stand, this was barely a problem for them. But for close-range stands like 「STONE FREE」, it would limit their ability to move around, as sticking to their users sides would allow the stand to be at its most effective. And, at an extremally close range like this, 「STONE FREE」's overwhelming speed truly got to shine.

Using its free hand, a fully formed 「STONE FREE」would quickly reach out and take hold of the wrist that Gwen wore her one working web-shooter on, crushing the device from the **** of its grip. Threads on webs uselessly fired out but would quickly sink downward from the lack of novel to direct their travel. Gwen would struggle against its grasp for a few seconds before the stand let go. For a moment, Gwen was left in confusion at the feeling of her wrist being freed along with the grip on her neck lessening, only to be overtaken with pain upon feeling a fist striking into her chest, her spider-sense uselessly going off right afterward.

The **** of blow sent Gwen flying back, tearing up whatever was left of the front side of the upper half of her costume, even almost tearing the centre gore of her blue bra in half. Once again, Gwen had become a white-and-black blur who soared through the air, though this time flying uncontrollably backward, racing past buildings until she eventually crashed back first in the same water tower that she had used earlier. The water tower crumpled slightly from the impact, Gwen becoming embedded in its metal surface. She would have lost consciousness had it not been for the cool water spilling out of the water tower and onto her body, dampening her exposed blonde hair and leaving parts of her torn suit and undergarments slightly translucent. Gwen blinked a few times as she tried to regain focus, her vision having become blurry from the blow she had just taken. Had it not been for her superhuman durability, she would have been certain that her diaphragm would've been torn to shreds from that blow.

Slowly, Gwen peeled herself out of the water tower's side, the back of her costume's top getting snagged on the deformed metal, causing it to tear off as she dropped down the roof. Her Ghost-Spider costume had now been reduced to half a mask and what was basically a pair of pants. Despite both the battered condition of her body and costume, Gwen still had a fight to finish. At this point, she had all but figured out how her foe's power worked. A powerful "evil spirit" that sticks close to its user and becomes more effective the closer it is, one that can also manipulate her enemy's body, turning it into what she can only guess is threads. Its speed can even surpass that of the spider-sense's if up close enough; an up-close and personal fight was to be avoided, except there was one problem. Gwen looked down at her web-shooters; her right shooter had been sliced in half length-wise while her left was crushed; she had nothing but her fists to fight with now. She could always run and come back to face the criminal another time, but...

Having freed herself from her binds and reformed the left side of her body once more, Jolyne scaled the side of the building, a shaky hand grasping on the roof's parapet as the stand user pulled herself over its side. Clad in only her grey bra, underwear, and socks, Jolyne raised her hand to her lips to whip the blood off of them. Her entire body was screaming in both pain and exhaustion; her opponent was surprisingly persistent, to an annoying extent. She wasn't quite used to an opponent that could take a beating this well; typically, it was the stand that was tough and the user themselves; the closest she had was Westwood, and even then, she was just pumped full of adrenalin and wasn't superhumanly durable. If this fight continued to be prolonged, she could be in a heap of trouble. Though Jolyne did have allies somewhere in this city, if she really needed to, she could lead Ms. Hero to them. No, that wouldn't work with the state of her lower body; running wouldn't be a good option, and besides, even if her opponent couldn't use those annoying webs anymore...

'I doubt she'd just let me run away!' is what both blonds thought as they locked eyes with one another from across rooftops, both equally determined to walk away from this confrontation as the victor.

Time for this fight to enter its final act!
