Chapter 300 by airwreck airwreck

How's dinner?

Great but...

"Grazie!" the girls cheered after Sofia and another waitress placed down the dishes of pasta.

"Buon appetito!" the waitresses smiled and left the group.

"More wine?" I asked, grabbing a bottle from the wine bucket. The girls nodded and I popped the cork to cheers.

"Mmm, soooo good!" Stephanie moaned.

The girls nodded in agreement and resumed chatting. I silently ate and watched them while they gossiped, laughed, ate, and drank, enjoying our last dinner together for the foreseeable future.

"Oh God, no," Amy muttered, shielding her face with her left hand to avoid being seen.

"What's wrong, Amy?" Corrine asked.

"Don't look at the door!" the redhead warned.

"What do you mean?" Talia asked and turned around, despite the girls telling her not to, to look at the tall, muscular dark-haired man with a buxom blonde waiting at the hostess stand. "Is that...?"

"Yeah, that's my ex, Spencer," Amy groaned. "Adam's father..."

"Any man can donate sperm but only a real man can be a father to a child," I spat, glancing at Amy's ex-boyfriend in disgust.

Amy smiled at me.

I smiled back, remembering during our high school reunion afterparty orgy she had confessed she had wished I was Adam's father.

"When was the last time you saw him?" Stephanie asked.

"Four years ago," Amy answered, trying to suppress the anger in her voice. "A week before Adam's first birthday..."

The other girls gasped with shock and disgust.

"I thought he left town?" Elizabeth wondered.

"So did I..." Amy growled.

"Oh my God, I think he's coming over!" Corrine gasped.

"Seriously?" Amy scowled.

"Honey, pretend to be her husband," my wife suggested, slipping off her engagement ring and handing it over to Amy, who was conveniently sitting next to me.

"What... Oh!" I nodded, understanding what she had in mind.

"Hey, Amy," Spencer greeted with a smug smile, showing off his gleaming white teeth, that I wanted to punch, "I thought I saw you back here."

"Spencer," Amy replied back through gritted teeth.

"This is my fiancée, Brittany," he announced, wrapping his arms around his female companion's tiny waist.

"Hi there!" the blonde cheered with a bounce that I could tell as a boob man that her large breasts were fake. She extended her left hand out for a handshake to show off the large diamond engagement ring. "How are you?"

"Fine," she answered with obvious disdain, not bothering to accept the handshake. "So is his son..."

"Your son?" Brittany looked at her fiance with confusion on her heavily made-up face.

"Yeah, Adam," Spencer replied without dropping his stupid grin. "Amy and I dated casually years ago and I knocked her up. Shit happens."

"Adam is NOT 'shit happens,'" Amy snapped. I actually had to put my hand on her shoulder to keep her from leaping up and attacking her ex-boyfriend.

"Look, Amy, I just..." Spencer began.

"Dude, just walk away before you make a scene," I interrupted, standing up.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"Amy's husband," I replied, "and Adam's real father."

"I'm his father..."

"No, you're not!" Amy exploded. "You lost all parental rights the day you left Adam."

"Is this about child support?" he scoffed. "You're after my family's money, right?"

"We don't want your money," Amy spat.

"Dude, leave," I warned. "Now."

Spencer stared at me but I stood my ground.

"Babe, let's go to our table," Brittany pleaded, grabbing her fiance's arm.

"Yeah," Spencer grumbled and turned to walk away.

"Was there a problem?" the restaurant owner asked worriedly.

"It's okay, Lucia," Elizabeth assured her. "It was an ex-boyfriend."

"Ah, I understand," the old Italian woman sighed, shaking her head. "I will get you more wine then!"

"Thank you for letting me borrow this," Amy smiled as she handed back the engagement ring back to my wife.

"No problem," Elizabeth chirped.

"Thank you, Ian, for standing up for me." Amy said as I sat down. She leaned over to give me a kiss on the cheek.

"It's the least can I do as Adam's father," I chuckled.

She didn't laugh as I had expected but instead had a glint in her eyes.

What next?
