Chapter 7 by TopHatHorse TopHatHorse

Go for the gun or get going?

Grab the Gun! (GOOD END)

No, she couldn’t hesitate against a beast like Brass! Texas snatched up the revolver (which was so large in her hands that it felt like a rifle) and pointed it straight at Brass’s chest. In the split second between her pulling down on that trigger and Brass colliding with her, she felt time slow down. She looked him straight in the eyes, watching the fear surmount as the powder ignited and a thunderous crack screamed through the saloon.

From there, Brass seemed to have disappeared completely. Texas thought for a sorrowful moment that she’d reduced the poor bastard to a fine mist, but as the smoke cleared she realized that the bull hadn’t been so lucky. There was a Black-Brass sized hole in the wall of the bar, and behind that there was one in the general store. And in the brothel, and all the way down main street until it stopped right at the train station. Seemed the 11:15 express had been a minute late getting out of the station and now had a massive bull lodged in the side of the steam engine.

Brass had somehow survived catching that massive bullet to the chest (and in fact the thing hadn’t even pierced his tough hide!) but getting slammed through an entire main street and denting a locomotive with the back of his skull had left him a little worse for the wear. Needless to say, the hardest part for Texas would be finding a gang of folks strong enough to lug his **** body on the train and off to the state penitentiary.

Texas had survived what was surely the deadliest criminal she’d ever encountered, and it was only by the skin of her teeth and with the use of Brass’s own hand cannon. Truth was it would’ve made a fantastic trophy even if Texas was sure she’d never want to fire it again, but she made sure to have it smelted down instead. She didn’t need anyone getting their hands on that thing. And she CERTAINLY didn’t need any more reminders of that monster Black Brass again.

If she ever saw him again, it’d be too soon.

THE END(?)
