Grab Janet

Stood there in a dangerous situation you can feel the spaceship shifting back and forth. You were the best in your field for handling stressful training missions. Receiving top marks as you gauge the position you’re in.

Your plan of actions becomes clear in your mind as your left foot steps onto the thruster box controls. Placed in the centre of the cockpit it's the most supportive and strengthened area. You stretch your right leg out placing it on the metal frame of the glass strut.

Leaning in close to Janet's face you pull her hair black hair back. You press your fingers to her neck and find a slow pulse. She's alive.

"Janet, can you hear me?"

Her eyes flicker for a few seconds before opening. They instantly go wide as she looks around before coming to rest on you.

"What happened?"

"I'll explain later, right now I need to get you out of here. I need you to release your belt so I can catch you. Don't put your feet on the floor. Understood?"

Janet nods and then reaches down and snaps the catch on her belt open. Your arms grab hold of her as she begins to slip out of her seat.

"Thanks."

Janet offers, looking up at you.

"No problem. Now I'm going to swing your feet toward the door I need you to kick as hard as you can with both feet. When it comes open grab onto the branch outside. You got that?"

Janet looks around and then at you confused.

"But what about you?"

"Don't worry about I have a plan. Ready now."

You launch Janet against the door and her feet connect hard making the jammed door fly open. Janet's hand reaches out grabbing a vine before she takes hold of the thick branch.

The spaceship lurches from the momentum of the swing and you step on the glass cockpit before throwing yourself out the open door.

The spaceship crashes down as you hear Janet scream. She leans her head out looking over the branch at the wreckage. She see's you gripping tightly to a large branch below.

"Told you I had a plan."

After five minutes you both make it to the ground.

"So now what? Shall we go for a walk? Spend the night in the wreckage and go out at first light? Does this place even have nights?"

You look back over at Janet as she holds her head suddenly she collapses. You race over to her. She is breathing but there is a nasty cut at her hairline.
