John's mind raced as he stepped out of the office, the heavy door closing with a thud that echoed through the hallway. Asa's question lingered in the air, but he had bigger fish to fry.

The encounter with Mr. Jaccon had left him more determined than ever to get to the bottom of this mystery. The town's unusual atmosphere was thick with lust, and he was going to cut through it like a hot knife through butter.

He call Mia ex boyfriend of three years ago, "Hey, it's John. I know we haven't ever meet before, but I need a favor. I've heard some weird things about the town, and I think you might have some insight."

Mia's ex, a soft-sounding man named Alex, took a moment before responding. "What do you want to know?"

John took a deep breath and leaned against the cool brick wall outside the office building. "I heard something about the town making women really...uh, you know, horny. And I was wondering if you had any idea what's going on here."

Alex's tone sharpened, a hint of accusation in his voice. "You're asking about the aphrodisiac? What's your angle, man?"

John's heart skipped a beat. "Aphrodisiac? No, I just noticed something off and heard some whispers. I'm just trying to figure it out for myself. I heard about how you and Mia dated for three lovely years then one night with Rich change all that."

Alex sighed heavily. "Look, man, it's not what you think. That night with Rich, it was...different. It was like something took over her. But I don't know what it is. And I don't know if I ever want to find out."

"Have you been fucking the women here?" John ask.

"Actually the opposite. Ever since that night, I've the shittest luck with women. I haven't been laid in three years. I don't know what happened. I use to be confident and now I'm...not. I think it's connected to whatever is going on here," Alex replied, his voice filled with a mix of anger and defeat.

John's eyes narrowed as he digested the information. An aphrodisiac? It was more than he had to go on than before, but it still didn't make much sense. Why would a town be drugging its women? And why would it affect women and men so differently? He thanked Alex for his time and hung up, his mind racing with questions. He couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the tip of the iceberg.
