Goodbye to a friend

“Driver!” Fedorov barks as he approaches the truck, Sasha and I following behind him.

“Yes, comrade commissar!” The driver yells as he rushes forth, stopping in front of Fedorov.

“You are to bring this girl with you.” Fedorov says, grabbing Sasha by the sleeve and pulling her forwards. “Drop her off in Soviet territory, before you return with your cargo. Do you understand?”

“Yes, comrade commissar.” The driver responds. “I leave in ten minutes.”

“Good.” Fedorov says before turning around and leaving.

“Well, I guess this is it.” I say to my old friend.

“I can’t believe that he made us do that.” Sasha says to me.

“I do.” I say. “I have to do it just about every day that I’m not away on a mission. I had to let him fuck me to get this truck.”

“You did that for me?” She asks.

“No, I did it because I liked it and I thought he was hot.” I joke. She looks at me in disbelief.

“Of course I did it for you!” I say.

“Wow.” She says. “I don’t even know how to thank you for everything you’ve done for me.”

“Just try to make it.” I tell her. “If you can at least go and live your life, it would make everything worth it.”

“What about you?” She asks me.

“I’ll be here, getting used by that fat pig until I end up getting killed in the woods somewhere.” I answer.

“Come with us.” She urges me. “We’ll be far away by the time he even realizes that we’re gone.”

“That’s desertion.” I say. “I’ll be executed for that, and probably the driver too.”

“Maybe you could run away when you’re out there?” She asks.

“Run away where?”

“Hurry it up!” The driver yells over to us.

“Okay.” I say. “Come here.”

I embrace my good friend one last time before I watch her climb into the truck and fade away into the forest.
