What do their friends think of these dour faces?
Good friendly advice.
Cloud opened his door to the impassive face of Mewtwo, and Daisy to the anticipatory blue eyes of Princess Peach. Each of their best friends’ was expecting juicy news, but The Pokémon and the princess quickly understood it was time for comfort when they saw how distressed their besties were.
Sat on the small couch inside the shared room, Cloud had told the psychic type his tale of the evening, soon getting to the part he wished didn’t happen. “And then I started crying in front of her Mewtwo… do you honestly think she still sees me as boyfriend materia?”
There’s not much I can tell you, friend. The Pokémon telepathically said, But if Daisy would view you as lesser over your emotions, than why would you want her in your life?
“Well. It’s worse than that. I also snapped at her, and she tried to end the date early too. I acted like a brat, and I think she basically hates me…”
In the other room.
“And then I made him cry Peach! I mean, the date didn't, er, it didn’t end right there…” The brunette’s mind shot back to an hour earlier when she had a hot babe bent over in an alley, her hand all over his throbbing dick while he moaned, "B-but it’s not like Cloud will ever talk to me again!”
Peach didn’t have much to advise her friend what one can do after driving a suitor to tears, so she hugged Daisy around the shoulders, and patted her softly. “Maybe he won’t talk, but, umm… if the date didn’t end after he cried, maybe he still likes you?”
“Ugh, I’m pretty sure I ruined everything…” Could and Daisy said in unison, despite being in different rooms, and different wings of the mansion.
Nonsense, Cloud. Mewtwo thought aloud in response to the suggestion that the swordsman had ruined the evening, You shouldn’t blame things like this on yourself.
Umm… I… I’m not sure now is a good time, but I had a lab flashback today. The Pokémon looked up at him with one tired eye, and asked, Please… could you hold me?
Cloud knew that Mewtwo was a lot like himself in ways that really mattered— neither could express what all they were feeling through their face, they both had deeply off-kilter humor, and both were traumatized in a cruel laboratory that only wanted to exploit them for power.
Cloud felt closer to the catlike super-being than to most humans. So the blond boy wrapped his arms around his friend, and cradled him against his chest. “It’s fine, buddy.” He said as Mewtwo hugged him tightly back. “It’ll always be fine. And… I could use someone to hold, too.”
Thank you.

Back in her bed, Daisy struggled to sleep, restless with the uncertainty stewing in her mind. She was anxious that even if a relationship never came of her date with Cloud, that he hated her on principle, and wouldn’t even entertain her as a friend. What she didn’t know as her eyelids started to feel heavy, was that the easily-embarrassed anime boy was already mustering up the courage to ask her for a second date…
And he wanted to ask soon.
