Good Enough

Nadia. Deflated. Dejected. Complete utter devastation.

She knelt by Greg. He lay on the ground breathing heavily. Nadia stopped hitting him.

“Why did you ask me to do it?” Nadia cried.

He asked her to cuck him all those years ago. Just once. It was never just once. It had been a down spiral into chaos. Opened Pandora’s box. Despite how hard she tried to close it – she wasn’t strong enough.

“I was never good enough to be with you…” He said, “I wanted to see you enjoy yourself…”

“You were always good enough… The best person I knew…” she cried, “But now I don’t know you anymore…”

Nadia stood up.

Greg reached out, “Please don’t go… I thought we’d be together forever…”

Nadia in tears, “No…”

Greg felt cold. Grey. No. It was the end of him in one word. He sobbed silently.

Nadia walked up the steps. Opened the door. The circus was closing. The final curtain drawing. The security were rounding up the stragglers. There were dozens of messages and calls from Xiao Mei.

“Hey girl where are you? I’m outside the tent.”

“Be there soon…” Nadia messaged back.

She looked at the door. Greg. Goodbye…
