How's Maria doing?
Good, busy cleaning, but...
“Ah, Maria! Good job! Very tasty breakfast too!” he praised her and Maria was happy that she was praised – thoughts and worries which had somewhat occupied her until now flew away. Oz noticed that she was cleaning up in her dress from earlier. He figured he may have to take them shopping later on to get some more fitting clothes for their jobs – including Maria’s special job he noted to himself with a slight large smile which showed on his face. Maria was slightly on her guard now that she saw a grin form on his face.
“Hmm. Yes that duster is a bit older. Come I will show you where the tools for cleaning are.” And he led Maria, who was slightly unwilling to follow him to a small room where indeed various cleaning detergents, buckets, mops, brooms, dusters and two vacuum cleaners were placed. Maria seemed to be relieved that Oz had really taken her to this room to show her how to do her job.
“For starters you can probably vacuum a few places like the living room. Don’t forget to vacuum under the couch!”
Maria nodded and took most of the things she considered to be necessary and went into the living room first. Oz in the meantime figured he’d tell the children to go join his dad while he takes care of the animals and can show them around the farm. He found all three of them playing in their rooms which was open. They seemed slightly bored, so he quickly reached out to them:
“Heyyy kids! Want to check out the farm? I showed the whole place to your dad, so he can now show you all the things. I’ve got animals, large barns and a few nice spots outside where you can play. Just don’t trample on the veggies!”
The children seemed to understand a few words, but still looked at him a bit puzzled. Oz pushed the curtain from the window aside and pointed outside and said ‘Dad’ and then put his two index fingers on his temples and mooed slightly. The children’s eyes sparkled and they rushed towards the back door with the smallest holding the oldest’s hand. Oz nodded at his own skills at smooth talking and non-verbal communication and made his way towards the living room. It was most likely not clear to Oz that what he symbolled to the children with the horns could also be interpreted that their dad had been put horns on.
Where does it need cleaning most?
