Going for a walk

I sat there waiting on the couch for her to show up when my phone went off startling me.

'Hey hurry up I'm waiting outside!'

Hopping up I went outside to meet her. It was so different seeing her outside in the middle of the day after months of working night shifts with her, but the sun only made her all the more radiant.

"Well hey there! Fancy seeing you in the daytime, I'm surprised neither of us have burst into flames from all the sunlight." she said driving towards the hiking trail. I had decided that I would need to be bold today, I mean we both knew what this was...right?

"It is a bit odd seeing you out like this, but you look beautiful in the sunlight." I could see her cheeks go red as I said it.

"Thank you, you aren't so bad looking yourself." she replied as we pulled into a parking spot. Getting out of the car we both got hit by a sudden gust of wind as we started walking. As we walked we just talked. About work, the other people we worked with, our personal lives, and a little about our feeling for one another.

It was every bit as easy to talk to her now as it had been all of the other times. Once or twice I even thought I caught her checking out my ass as we were walking. Eventually we came to a split in the path and she asked which way we should go. "Hmm...let's go this way." I said leading us further up the hill towards a rocky area I knew of with a nice view of the park and city.

Heading off the trail we eventually came to a rocky outcropping and sat down at the edge of one of the rocks. "I really enjoy hiking and being out like this with you." she said smiling. I could have sworn by the look on her face that she wanted me to kiss her...but what if I was wrong?

We sat there for a little while before deciding to head back towards the car and grab some lunch. Standing up I extended my arm to help her up and pulled her in close to me, our bodies pressed together and our faces inches apart. She didn't protest or try to move away as our lips got closer. My nose was brushed up against hes and our lips were nearly touching before she finally said something.

"So, what are you up to?" she asked her lips lightly touching mine. "Who me? Nothing, just close talking is all." I said my heart pounding. "Oh just close talking huh?" she asked as I nodded. At this point I knew she wanted me to kiss her, but I just couldn't bring myself to actually do it. "We should probably start heading back." She said after a few tense seconds.

As we headed back we had a few more instances of 'close talking' but I just couldn't bring myself to actually kiss her. Finally at the bottom of the last little hill she called me out. "So are you going to kiss me or not?" she asked laughing as I stood there dumbfounded by her bluntness. "Well...I was just nervous and didn't want to ruin our friendship. But fine once we get to the top of the hill I will kiss you." I replied, my heart beating faster and faster.

As we reached the top of the hill she turned around to face me and I pulled her close to me as I had several times already that day. "Well? I'm wai..." she started to say before I cut her off with a kiss. Her entire body changed as she melted into my arms and began to kiss me back. As we stood there kissing in the wind it felt like we were teenagers in high school making out.

"Wow...that was amazing." she said as we broke off the kiss. I nodded in agreement as we continued back to her car. It didn't take long for us to get back to my house. The air between us was totally different than when we were heading to the park, but in a good way. "I'll see you at work tomorrow" she said, and I leaned over and kissed her goodbye. "See you tomorrow."
