Going Home

At the end of the work day, you met up with your sister Alison at a fast food restaurant downtown. Both of you have a tradition of catching up over burgers and fries whenever schedules allowed and tonight seems like the perfect time to talk about your new internship.

"Hey, Alex! Over here!" Alison waved at you with a smile as you approached the restaurant. She was already seated at your usual spot. "How was your first day?"

"It was... interesting? I'm an Outreach Assistant in EmpowerHer."

"The women's rights organization? I heard about them. They've been pretty vocal in the last few years about women's rights and advocate for underprivileged women."

"Yeah, I wasn't expecting this at all, I thought I'll be doing something cool with tech in the community work when I put Community Work as my top choice. But the people there are nice, and the work seems important."

Alison took a sip of her soda, her eyes bleaming with amusement. "So, what is it like working with all those women? Any cute colleagues? Are there any guys or are you the only guy?"

You blushed. "They're pretty nice, but it's still the first day, so it's too early to tell. I have this colleague Sarah, she's full of energy, feels like a strong extrovert. She's pretty cool. I'm the only guy and it's damn weird."

Alison leaned in. "You know, with so many girls surrounding you, I bet they'll make you wear a skirt eventually!"

"No way! That's not going to happen!"

"Relax, I'm just teasing, if you need a skirt, just let me know, I have some that might fit you in my wardrobe."

"Alison!!"

You snatched the fries from her hand and put them in your mouth. "Mine now."

After dinner, both of you did some usual sibling things like shopping. As usual, she bought a few bags of clothes and you had to help her to bring them home. Fortunately, she drives a car, so you'll get to hitch a ride home as well.
