Who's the culprit in Mackenzie's suffering?
God and Satan themselves
Mackenzie recoiled in shock as she realized that the Lord himself, and his handy tester of the faithful, were behind all her suffering the past decade.
------
God was holding court one day, when Satan came walking by.
"Oh, it's you again," God sighed, "what do you want?"
"I come and go," Satan continued, "but I noticed your people have waxed less over the years."
"Be that or be that not," God countered, "but there is this fair girl named Mackenzie Fairbairn, who is yet virtuous and upright."
"Really?" Satan raised his eyebrow quizzically, "she turns 18 in about a month. Life's so easy for her, of course she wouldn't do anything too naughty."
"Fine then, skeptic," God started to place a bet, "once she turns 18 feel free to make her as uncomfortable as you can. Just don't hurt her or make her destitute."
"Perfect!" Satan clapped his hands in delight, "my trusty demon Malakar and I shall get to work."
------
Mackenzie, who was still standing naked, didn't know what to do about this all-but-bet that had gone on for a decade. For the first time in her life, she genuinely feared God, but she felt no choice but to get down on her knees and begin praying.

Did Mackenzie pass the test? Does God answer Mackenzie's prayers, or does he keep it up? Is this the right God?
