Chapter 6

Go with the flow.

Kathleen let herself be ushered forward, finding herself inside a changing room too cramped for her taste. It featured a huge mirror on one wall, however, and when she saw herself in it she gasped in shock.

The face looking back at her was her own, but at least twenty years younger. She looked just like she remembered, which contrasted sharply with the middle-aged face she'd had to come to terms with over the years.

She gaped, dropping the bundle of clothing on the small bench in the corner, looking like a sad afterthought to the room's construction.

'This can't be real...'

She touched her face, pulling at the skin, marveling at how soft and smooth it was. Had she really ever been so beautiful?

The rest of her reflection clashed with her face. She did look like she'd been dressed by someone else. Nothing fit and the style was all wrong for her age.

Suddenly curious, she tore at her blouse, pulling it from the waist of her skirt to get a look at her bare torso. At the sight of her taut body, lean and untouched by age and pregnancy, she actually laughed out loud.

She doffed the whole outfit, including the lingerie. It didn't fit quite right anyway, and drank in the impossible sight of her flawless younger body. The black choker contrasted her pale skin beautifully in complement with her dark hair, so she left it. It suited her apparent age, anyway.

As she stood transfixed by her own reflection, her mind compartmentalized everything neatly into two separate but compatible facts: Kathleen was a middle aged, recently divorced mother of two adult children, and Kathleen was a smoking hot 18-22 year old. Her exact age wasn't important.

"Oh, hell yeah! This is really happening!"

She turned to admire herself from every angle, touching and prodding things to assure herself everything was as it seemed.

The clerk spoke from somewhere outside the dressing room. "I told you that would suit you better than that frumpy mess you had on. If you want me to bring you anything else, just lemme know, but first come on out so I can see how you turned out."

Kathleen had already forgotten about the clerk, the clothing, the store, and everything else.

Feeling suddenly embarrassed about how long she was taking in the dressing room, she turned to look at the samples Stacy had selected.
