What will she do?
Go with the Hunter to Iosefka's Clinic
"Please... will you help me?" Jessica feared being bound to the hunt, but the blood could heal her. She could feel the sickness starting to spread from her maidenhood. It seemed as if the ominous chanting was growing louder.
"Yes. But we must go now."
The hunter led Jessica from her cell, winding their way through the labyrinthine dungeon.
"Where is this place?" she whispered.
"Hypogean Gaol. Beneath Yahar'gul." the Hunter whispered in return. Jessica whimpered. She did not know much, but she knew enough to know that Yahar'gul was a forbidden place. The School of Mensis ruled the Unseen Village, it was said, and their hunters were little more than assassins, protecting the School's secrets.
"How are we going to get out of here?"
"If you were already dream-bound, we could escape at the lantern... but you are not, so we must hope the Darkbeast slumbers."
Jessica didn't like the sound of that.
The journey through the Gaol was a harrowing one. Snatchers roamed the halls, and other foul beasts. The hunter dispatched any threats that they couldn't sneak around with brutal efficiency. It was... almost rapturous watching the blood spray, and to hear the beasts scream in fear of his pistol. When the Hunter took wounds that made her throat clench in fear, he jabbed his leg with an injector, shrugging off the horrible wounds as they rapidly closed before her eyes.
"Truly, the blood is a miraculous thing." She whispered after the Hunter slew a third Snatcher.
"Indeed...." the hunter discarded an empty blood vial. His face showed a moment of ecstasy... and he looked at her with a hunger before he shook it off and returned to his normal countenance.
Eventually, they made their way out of the prison into an open courtyard. Jessica saw the familiar walls of Yharnam, and the gate. "That's..."
"Old Yharnam." The Hunter whispered. "Where the scourge first took hold. Burned now. Scorched and abandoned."
Jessica noticed something odd, as if there were a bunch of large bones piled in the center of the yard. "What is that...?"
"The Darkbeast sleeps. We are in luck, mistress." The Hunter led her quietly around the bones, keeping as silent as possible until they reached the gate. Jessica sighed in relief, but when the Hunter touched the lock on the gate, meaning to **** it open, the horrific sounds of buzzing electricity suddenly began behind them.
"By the blood..." she whispered, looking back. The bones were becoming animate, surrounded by ephemeral, swirling darkness and blue arcs of lightning.
"Help me, lass! Push the gate!"
As the Darkbeast roared, Jessica desperately pushed on the wrought iron gate. The hinges were rusted, and it seemed that hope was lost until they suddenly gave way, allowing them both to slip through. The hunter fired a shot from his pistol as the beast charged, staggering the great monster long enough to shut the gate. "There... it won't enter the city itself. We are safe for now."
"What in the god's name is it?"
"There are many things you do not know, mistress, and it is perhaps safer for you that you remain ignorant of them." Jessica could feel her mind groan from the intrusion of knowledge that it was not meant to contain. Her vision blurred. She had... seen things in the swirling darkness of the beast, and its eyes had burned with a light too intelligent for a mere beast.
"We must cross Old Yharnam quickly, young one. Make haste."
Do you encounter an obstacle to your journey to the clinic?
