What's next?
Go with Samantha
“OK,” you say uneasily, taking Samantha’s hand.
“Come on. We need to see who else is around,” she says, pulling you back toward the landing. You head downstairs together. Things are a little messy but quiet. A lot went on down here earlier tonight, and the cleanup hasn’t been totally thorough. There’s still a faint smell of rum, paint, and CCL spirit.
“Becka, are you around?” Samantha calls out softly.
As though in reply, the lights all go out with a snapping noise. It’s a power outage!
You and Samantha stand in complete darkness.
“Oh shit,” you both say at the same time.
Oh no… you blink, trying to get your eyes to adjust. This blows.
“Weird,” Samantha says. “I didn’t hear lightning.”
“The wind?”
“Or somebody turned it off,” she says. “Keep your voice down.” She pulls you forward, and you stumble through the dark. You should have just stayed in bed with Riona…
A sudden tap makes you both jump in surprise, and you make a noise that’s not quite a scream.
Someone is outside the window, tapping the glass. Your vision is starting to clear, but you still see some yellow spots.
“Who is that?” Samantha asks. You both approach the window and unlatch it, then pull it open.
Nevaeh stands outside, soaked and wheezing for breath.
“Thank god,” she croaks, climbing through.
“What in the world?” you say. “Are you OK?”
“Jesus,” Samantha is saying. She moves to close the window, but Nevaeh stops her.
“Hold on,” she says, gasping. She leans on the windowsill, peering into the rain. “Hold on. Hold on.”
“What? What is happening?” you ask, lost.
“Olivia’s a fucking psycho, that’s what’s happening,” Nevaeh pants. “She attacked us. She pistol-whipped a cop.”
“Holy shit,” Samantha replies.
“Right?” Nevaeh says. She points suddenly. “There!”
A figure is approaching through the rain!
Kylie comes dashing out of the woods, sprinting toward the open window. You all get out of the way as she vaults through and slams it behind her, latching it and snapping the curtains shut.
“Is she coming?” Nevaeh asks.
“She’s coming,” Kylie replies, wiping her hair out of her face. “We’re fucked. We have to get out of here.”
“Wait, so Lopez didn’t get where she was going?” Samantha asked nervously.
“She got her ass kicked,” Nevaeh says. “Come on, let’s go.”
“Shouldn’t we warn people?”
“Warn them of what? I don’t know what’s going on. Do you? I just know that Olivia has a gun,” Nevaeh hisses. “And she shot at us.”
“Why’d she shoot at you?” you ask.
“I don’t know! I didn’t stop to ask her!”
“OK, let’s go. Come on. Everybody,” Samantha says, amazingly calmly, shepherding you all toward the foyer.
“Where are we going?” Nevaeh asks, shivering.
“We have to get out of this house,” Samantha says.
“The roads are flooded.”
“Let’s take our chances,” Kylie says.
You are totally on board with that.
You enter the dark foyer. The house is way too quiet. You think you hear something from upstairs, and that makes sense because the power just went out. Girls should be coming out to find candles and stuff, but hardly anyone is. Where did they all go? Riona is still up there. You have to go get her. You can’t leave her here.
But the thought of leaving the group is super scary. Samantha has already said that she doesn’t’ trust officers, but you know that Riona only cares about one thing: orgasms. She’s not trying to hurt anyone…
Go after Riona?
Stay with them?
