What do you decide to do?
Go towards the junk-mountain (No risks, no change)
If you shy away from risk you aren't going to get anywhere. You came here for treasure with your your sword and shield. Although you lost your shield you still have your sword.
Speaking of which you stil trailed your sword behind you in one hand making sure to keep it away from your kicking naked feet. You hadn't tried sheathing it yet. Putting it away in your scabbard before drying it of was like asking to ruin his new (by pawn-shop standars) sword with rust.
You wanted to get out of the water and let it have a chance to dry along with your scabbard. Speaking of which you really needed to go out of the water. You were beginning to feel the consequences of your choice. A horrible smell, permeated your surroundings and you think object are not the only things that were dumped here.
Several times you'd felt things graze over your chest plate or against your leather pants, but you had been fortunate not to cut yourself on anything.
The water was a distasteful swirl of shit-brown and snot green that you were hoping was just caused by river sludge and algae. But it offered zero visibility in the water and you had been fortunate enough not o cut yourself on anything.
You decide to swim sword first and use it to probe the water in front of you. It is quite strenuous for your wrist but. But it was better than risking a cut on your and and you didn't dare put your feet down, afraid you would step on a rusty nail or splintered or some other sharp construction.
You decide that finding boots really is your priority. You scan the surroundings and your eyes land on the distinct curve of a carriage. The fancy kind that belongs to the rich. Your mood brightens instantly. although it's leaning in the mud at an angle, but you think you could still step into it and find a spot to rest somewhat comfortably.
It was also as likely a place as any to find boots. You wonder a bit how it got here but you don't want to question your luck too much.
AS you carefully near the carriage the ground becomes shallower and it becomes more and more difficult four you to swim. You try your best to stay afloat and use your sword and armour as some kind of extra sensory extensions of yourself. Only occasionally setting down your hand to move forward.
Suddenly, your hand lands on something smooth and hard. You flinch but then feel it out and come to the conclusion that it might be the missing carriage door.
You try to clear away the alge and some of the mud from the water and catch sight of a faint sigil below the water. A thrill of excitement runs through you.
It's the enchanter's guild sigil. You try to remember any incidents form the enchanters guild. And remember one which happened a bit over a year ago comes to your mind.
A member of one of the guilds branches had been making their way to Gradrod with some experimental prototypes when they had been accosted by highway men. The Carriage, however, had disappears in a warping of space and left the highway men as well as the nation stunned. The enchanter's guild had managed to make a teleportation item!
The Enchanters guild had never admitted to possessing or being able to make such an item. Weather it was an experimental item or not would never be known for the carriage had been lost.
You feel yourself fill with excitement thinking this might have been where the carriage ended up in.
You move forward and take an unthinking step. And your foot land's on a patch of what might have been fine water-weed. You flinch from the sensation. But since it was pretty soft you decide to use it as a platform to leap off and land safely on the carriage's stepladder. The wood groans a bit, but holds your weight. As expected of such good craftsmanship.
You don't actually see anything out of the ordinary, immediately upon entering the carriage.
You decide to use this opportunity to dry off your sword and scabbard. Tearing off a piece of tattered curtain to wipe your sword with and leaning it against one of the tilted walls you then process to unbuckle you belt and slide your scabbard off and lay it aside to also dry off a bit.
Buckling your belt back on you look around wondering where you could find some loot and hopefully a pair of boots.
What do you find?
