Go to the clearing

While it's obviously a risky move, not dealing with Abigail has it's risks too. She doesn't look like she plans to stop bothering you anytime soon, so maybe a decisive move now would be best. Still, she's a Puritan girl, and with your status as an outsider messing around with her is a fast track to potential trouble.

You go to the clearing before dark, like she said. You look around a little bit, surprised to find she isn't there.

"Boo!" Someone screams behind your, startling you considerably.

You put a hand over your beating heart as, predictably, Abigail walks out from behind the trees.

"What are you so nervous about?" she says with a cheeky grin. "You'd think I was a pack of Indian scalpers, the way you get scared."

You shake your head in disapproval. "I'm here. What did you want to talk about?"

She shakes her head. "Always nervous or serious. Welllll...it's about the other day, of course. I was wondering... you've had sex, haven't you?" The question catches you off guard, and brings up old memories of the master's wife. How did she get that conclusion?

"Miss Abigail, you shouldn't ask such questions, that's improper!" you chide.

"Oh, don't 'Miss Abigail' me mister Turner, I'm not a child. And I know the truth, I can see it in your face. I was just asking to be polite, thank you very much." She crosses her arms with a huff.

"Why are you prying into my life anyhow?" you ask impatiently.

"Obviously, because I want to know what it's like! You know how the people here are. They're like you but even worse!" Ah, such a sweet girl. "I'm a woman now, and it probably won't be long until I'm married. Is it ridiculous for me to be curious?"

"Well, I suppose I could try and tell you what it's like-" you say, but Abigail crosses the distance between you until there's a hair's breadth between you.

"I didn't say I want to be told what it's like, I said I want to know what it's like"
