Go get some new clothes

"You're taking me to the mall to get me some new clothes new clothes," you say matter-of-factly.

"I guess we should," Alex says, looking you over.

You glare at him. "Keep your eyes to yourself," you snap.

Alex averts his gaze, picking up his keys and pocketing them.

You both head downstairs to his car without another word. You climb in his car. He starts it and pulls out onto the street heading toward the mall. The radio is tuned to one of your go-to stations as you travel.

A few minutes into the ride, Alex says, quite simply, "Sorry." Still pissed off, you respond by turning up the radio.

When you finally arrive, you step out of the car and ask, "How much money do you have?"

"Uhh..." Alex says, pulling out his pocket to check. "18 bucks." You hold out your hand. Alex pauses, looking at our upturned palm. You motion with your fingers to give you the money. Dejectedly, he hands it over. You fold it up and stuff it (with some difficulty) in one of the nearly-nonexistant pockets on your shorts. You find yourself wondering what the point of the tiny little pouches is.

"I'm going to Forever 21," you tell your companion shortly; it's the first women's clothing shop that came to mind. "You can wait for me."

"I'm not coming with you?" Alex asks, starting to follow you.

All you say is "Whatever," as you continue on your way.

You walk into the mall, Alex trailing behind you. You find the shop you're looking for. Upon entering, you go to the section where the shorts and pants are. You look through the racks and realize that the money in your "pocket" wouldn't even cover the cost of most of the shorts here. That's not even counting a bra or top.
