Chapter 5 by Koriandr Koriandr

What did Damian do?

Go against what the game wants

Damian pulled up the in-game menu and tried to quit but the option was faded out. She received an error message that read something like:

Unavailable - Complete the mission objective in order to access this option.

"You can't be serious!"

Damian frowned. It was odd hearing her own trademarked bratty pessimism in Starfire's usually jovial voice.

"I'm being very serious, Kory! Hurry up!"

Nightwing ran off. God, Grayson was just as annoying in the simulation as he was in the real world.

Damian sighed and threw the stupid impossibly soft, pink blankets off of herself. She opened Kory's closet and took a look. She dug through the rack of her super suits, all of which were ridiculously skimpy. If Damian didn't know any better, she would have thought she was looking through Kory's bikini collection. But no, these were what this woman actually went outside in. She couldn't imagine going out in public dressed like that, let alone get into a fight.

She eventually settled on one of the dumb costumes, slipping into it. The texture felt like latex, but far more durable. Clearly, it was specially designed to not burn up when Starfire used her abilities. The suit was also ridiculously tight to keep it from falling off. Why an alien princess needed to wear high heeled boots into battle was beyond her.

Damian looked at herself in the mirror. Starfire was very attractive, it was no wonder the guys always talked about her when the female Titans weren't around. That is, until Dick shut them up. It was a strange feeling, looking in the mirror and not only seeing someone else, but someone different in every way. She was taller than Damian was probably capable of growing and the heels only added a few inches. Her body was well proportioned and she wasn't afraid to show it off, as evident by her revealing outfits. She recalled Starfire explaining that it was a point of pride in her culture to show off her body, which made sense, but it didn't fix the impracticality. "Starfire" looked down and saw the two mounds of flesh hanging from her chest and rolled her eyes. They were easily bigger than Kyle's or Quinn's.

The more she examined her new form, the more she realized the impossibility of this task. Why would her father go to the trouble of programming a simulation where you could play characters that weren't members of the Bat Family, anyway? What was the point in combat training with superpowers? It's not like they'd carry over or be relevant in any way when it came to squaring off against goons in the real world. Perhaps they are for Damian to understand each of his allies' strengths and weaknesses like a good leader should? Or there was always the possibility that these could have been simply test profiles for her father to figure out how best to eliminate every meta and alien, if it came to that. Batman sure did love his contingency plans.

Realizing that this was hopeless, she decided to not participate in the simulation's dumb combat mission. If it wasn't going to let her out, she figured she'd deliberately break it. So, Damian used her newfound super powers to take flight and shatter the glass window to Starfire's room as she took off. She left the simulation versions of her friends behind to face whatever stupid coded threat her father concocted as she fled Titans Island.

Suddenly... an error message popped up.

What was the message?
