What does she do?
Go after him!
James and Sally had been let out, being lead through the motions by Officer Alan. He was distracted momentarily by a massive, red Novaxan who had enough of the same color to look like a fire glowing around him. What had happened in there? Alan snapped to get his attention back.
"Hey. Got that part? Either of you leave the city, you're automatically arrested. We're looking into more details, but for now stay home as much as possible. You can go to the store, but if you get a call from us we need you to answer."
"Yeah, I get it...just...she has water, right?"
Alan rolled his eyes. "Yes, she has water."
"Good...so what happens to her now?"
"Now? She'll be released to the p-", Alan was interrupted by Aurora's voice in a near scream.
"James!", her voice echoed into the precinct. She came running out of the room she'd been in, far to his right. She looked around before she saw him, flashing bright blue, and a dull grey. What was grey? "James! I want to stay with you!"
James turned towards her, and she still ran toward him. A woman in a white suit grabbed her when she'd been about ten feet away. The red Novaxan joined her, speaking in that weird clicking language. James couldn't be silent. "I want that, too...maybe they'll let you stay with me when this is all over?"
She shook her head, tears flicking off of her chin. "They will not! We will never see each other again!", the red Novaxan grabbed her waist and lifted. He started pulling her back toward the room. She screamed, her voice sounding like several women's modulated together. The sound shrieked and pierced at the ears of everyone nearby. "NO!"
The room and hallway lit up a bright, intense gold. James caught himself staring with his mouth open before her words processed. Never see each other again? He tried to walk toward her. Officer Alan stopped him. He shouted after her, even as she, and the golden color, vanished into the room. "I'll find a way! I promise!" He turned as the door closed. Sally, still shocked by the whole display, pulled him into a hug. Silently, he let himself cry on her shoulder.
