Not all hope lasts
But answers must be given
James was being nearly shoved out of the station. Sally had already left of her own accord. Before he could even finish accepting what had just happened, he was outside. He stood still for longer than he knew what to do with.
A vibrating, deep voice came from behind him. The red Novaxan came into view from his left. "She showed me what you did for her...how you saved her life. I believe you do not even understand the depth your own actions will soon reach."
He scoffed. "Yeah? What's it even worth, if she ends up in a bad place?"
The Nova shimmered blue. "Mm...she will be returned to us. If she does choose to re-apply for the placement program, we will conduct a psychological evaluation first. Then, if she is cleared, she will be assigned to a home with another Nova."
James nodded solemnly, his head turning down. "Right...at least she's safe then."
Blue flickered across the red Nova's head. "Is that truly your only desire?"
"No...but it's what matters the most."
Glowing a soft teal color, the red Nova reached into a pouch on the side of his hydration suit, pulling out a card he offered to James. It read: Pod 9 Alpha. Archie. A phone number in crisp black numbers sat on the back side. "I will be caring for her... I believe it would do well for you to call. For both of you."
James hesitantly took the card, turning it over back and forth. He looked up at the intimidating man incredulously. "...Why?"
"Because...I do not believe she was wrong about you.", Archie gave him a pat on the shoulder before walking back inside. "If it helps...circumstance has come to light, and I have it on the honor of Police Chief Wilkin that you will not be charged with anything."
