Chapter 10 by VyVu VyVu

Where To Next?

Go With Andin

I decided to go with Andin—ever since I arrived, he’s seemed like the only man here with a shred of dignity and respect. He guides me outside the city, toward the gates, where a beautiful chariot awaits us.

“How were the fights today, Sir Andin?” the chariot driver asks.

“Nothing to recall,” Andin replies. Then he turns to me with a slight smile. “This is my acquaintance, Miss… Actually, I don’t believe we’ve had the honor of introductions yet. What is your name, Miss?”

“My name is Lady Kaitlin.”

“Well, Miss Kaitlin, it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”

As the chariot carries us toward Andin’s residence, he begins to tell me more about himself. He was born into a noble family and has never known poverty. Yet despite that, tragedy hasn't spared him—his family was slain before his eyes when he was just a boy. That horror drove him to become a renowned fighter and swordsman.

Eventually, he asks about me. I tell him about my home—how it was destroyed by orcs. He quickly apologizes for bringing up the subject and offers to change it, but oddly enough, talking to him about it helps. It’s been a long time since anyone truly listened.

Before I know it, we arrive at an extravagantly beautiful home. Golden bricks pave the path, and all around us are exotic plants and animals. The house itself is magnificent, as if crafted by elven hands. It reminds me of my own home—what it used to be—and I feel a quiet sense of ease settle over me.

When the chariot comes to a stop, a host of servants pours out from the front doors, helping both me and Andin out of the carriage and escorting us into a grand dining room. A massive meal is already laid out before us—enough food to feed an entire village.

I don’t hesitate. I’ve been living off scraps and barely any rations for too long, and I eagerly devour the food, savoring every bite. When the meal is done, Andin personally escorts me through the winding corridors of his home to a guest room. It’s more luxurious than anything I’ve seen in weeks. Fresh linens and a warm bath await me.

Just before he turns to leave, he pauses at the door and asks, “Do you require anything else?”

Do I Need Anything Else?
