Give it all away

“Hello. You all know who I am by now,” Vanessa said. “I’m the wealthy girl who inherited millions of dollars after my aunt. Well, I’m the girl who.... who sabotaged my own sister to gain an upper hand. At first, it was simple ****. I was angry and selfish and I wanted to... humiliate my sister and make her feel half the pain I felt my entire life. And I have realized.... by doing that I make myself no better than her. I have realized that I don’t deserve this money. I don’t deserve this fame. I don’t deserve any of it. I want it to stop. All of it. I realized today I went too far. And maybe I can never come back from it, but I want my sister to be happy with whoever she wants to be with. And I want myself to be happy with... however I turn out to be. I have done.... horrible things to my sister. Things I could never repeat. I want to personally wave the flag of peace and call a truce. I’m giving all the money I inherited away. I don’t need it. I don’t want it. It has turned my family into... a monster. It has turned me into a monster. And I’m sorry for that. I really am. I’ll keep 10% of the money. 5% of which will go to my sister, on the agreement that we use it wisely and don’t splurge on useless crap we don’t need. I’m giving all the assets and liquidating them and giving it all to charity. I mean that. I don’t want any of it. This house. This life. I’m done. I hope that you can understand my decision. And I hope, Lauren. That I haven’t completely screwed everything up for us.”

Lauren’s jaw dropped in shock and everyone stood stunned at what Vanessa just said. Lauren felt tears forming in her eyes while Megan was actually crying. “Oh my God, that was so sweet,” Megan sniffled.
