Gliese 1061
Class M5.5V Star
Mass: 0.113 solar mass
Notes: Gliese 1061 is small M-class star situated 11.984 light years from earth. Unlike proxima centaury and other red dwarves, Gliese 1061 is a relatively quiet star meaning it does not have many solar flares. This propriety is necessary for stars of this type to hold habitable worlds, as powerful solar flare can strip the atmosphere off of a planet.
Since Gliese 1061 is among the least massive class of stars, its planets must orbit it closely (the furthest being four times closer to its star than mercury is to the sun). As a consequence of their proximity, Gliese 1061 applies a tremendous amount of tidal **** to the planets' mantles, which in turn slows down their rotation until they become tidally locked. This means that each planet always have the same face towards and way from their parent star.
Gliese 1061 b
Baptized Hades
Mass (earth mass) ___ Surface gravity ___ Semimajor axis ___ Orbital period (days) 1.38 1.65g 0.021 AU 3.204Notes: The closest of the four planets to its parent star, Hades is a nightmarish land. Its thins atmosphere is highly acidic and its proximity to Gliese 1061 ensures that the star facing side is scorched at all time.
Gliese 1061 c
Baptized Elysium
Mass (earth mass) ___ Surface gravity ___ Semimajor axis ___ Orbital period (days) 1.75 1.21g 0.035 AU 6.689Notes: Elysium is the main target of the Gaia Initiative. It took over Ross 128 b as closest potentially habitable planet when JWST discovered the presence of an atmosphere in 2027. Sitting in the Goldilocks zone of its parent star, Elysium is capable of supporting liquid water at its twilight zone. The day side remains too hot and the night side too cold to bear liquid water however. The habitable region remains therefor limited but still sizable enough that life may thrive there.
Gliese 1061 d
Baptized Asphodel
Mass (earth mass) ___ Surface gravity ___ Semimajor axis ___ Orbital period (days) 1.68 1.19g 0.054 AU 13.031Notes: Asphodel was a secondary target of the Initiative. While it does technically sit on the outer edge of the habitable zone, its highly eccentric orbit, thin atmosphere and distance from its parent star make it an unappealing colonization candidate. Nevertheless, a second Gaia seed was sent to the planet in order to study its abilities in fringe cases and provide an emergency back up were one needed.
Gliese 1061 e
Baptized Tartarus
Mass (earth mass) ___ Surface gravity ___ Semimajor axis ___ Orbital period (days) 1.17 0.99g 0.096 AU 32.292Notes: Not much is known about Tartarus. The smallest and furthest away from an already dim star, it was only discovered when the first interstellar probe approached the system.

The Gaia Initiative
Humanity spreading its seed...
The 22nd century is a time of unparalleled progress. As advances in bio-engineering have solved many problems on earth, humanity now looks to the stars. Follow the progress of the fist human colony outside the solar system through the lives of the people who live there and guide it as it builds its own culture. But most importantly... ensure the increase of its population through lots of fucking!
