Giddy

The hours could not be passing any slower and every time Mary checked the clock hanging in the living room, she was convinced the time hadn't changed at all. But instead of just moping around and doing nothing, she decided to prepare the house for her stepfather to come back.

It had been about a year since Bruno had come into her life, after her mom had introduced her to him. Her mom had met him at her work, where he had come to fix a door and build a new door frame. The two had immediately hit it off, at which Mary wasn't surprised. Her mom was a very beautiful woman, even in her forties she still looked amazing. Her long silky hair would flow down to her shoulders in black waves, even the few grey hairs that had been popping up recently looked good on her. Her figure was something Mary was very happy to have inherited and she hoped that, in the future, when she was the same age her mother was now, she still looked as good.

Her mom had been single for quite a while and had not dated anyone since Mary's father passed away. But at her encouragement she had finally brought a man home, and an extremely attractive one at that. From the moment she had laid eyes on him Mary had felt a strange tingling sensation come over her. Whenever he spoke to her in his gruff voice, or let his dark eyes fall on her, she somehow felt giddy. It wasn't long until she realized she had a huge crush on her stepfather, who had moved into their house just two months ago. Mary's mom was very happy that she liked Bruno so much, and tried to get the two of them to hang out as much as possible. Mary was happy to, but Bruno seemed a little more hesitant. She didn't care, Mary was sure he'd warm up to her soon.

When the afternoon had finally passed her by and the time until Bruno would be coming home crept ever closer, Mary started to think about what to serve for dinner. First, however, she went upstairs into her room and picked out a pretty yellow sundress she knew looked good on her. Her mom had complained once that it was too short and too tight, that it revealed a little too much. Perfect, Mary thought.
