Getting situated.

You follow Helen into the dormitory building, not really paying attention after getting so flustered. So you're taken aback when you realize that you didn't just walk into Dorm number 8. Through the doors you just entered is a series of sidewalks criss crossing a field growing lush with grass, a little more than a dozen smaller towers all inside this larger one. "This place's scale is nuts." You say as you join Helen at a guide map posted nearby showing a top-down view of the dormitory tower. Four arrows around the outside of the point to other locations. Transit station for where you just came from, then on the far side of the circular map the arrows labelled Classrooms, Faculty Offices/Shops, and Labs/Graduate Student Offices branch out from each other.

"You can say that again," Helen answers idly as she scans the dots inside the circle. "Oh cool! A pool!"

You turn your focus to reading the dots as well. Sure enough near the center is a dot labelled Community Pool House, neighboring Community Theater House, Mail/Security Room, and Community Boudoir. Circling these are a ring of 12 towers labelled Dormitory 1, 2, 3 all the way up to 12. To the side of the map you see a list 12 numbers with several lines of writing beside each of them. You find number 8, and read:

Dormitory 8 - Elasticity and Rigidity - Dr. Annette Santina (F).

• Residence Assistants - Helen Doherty (F), Ian Stryker (M)

Out of curiosity look at the dorm above yours.

Dormitory 7 - Flavor - Dr. Lydia Bourdeaux (F).

• Residence Manager - Morgan Hernandez (U)
• Residence Assistants - Jack Cooper (M), Abigail Farris (F)

Knowing there's no way you'll remember all these names you decide to just read down the list of dorm names.

"Ok, I think I've figured out the best way to get there, we're over between the theater and the exit to the labs. Follow me!" Helen bounces into action down the path, you follow and in about 5 minutes you are entering Dormitory 8. Entering on the first floor, you see an elevator across from a reception desk with a landline and a list of contacts for maintenance and emergencies, a pad for guest sign-ins, a desktop computer, and in the middle two sets of keys and a handwritten note:

Ian! Helen!

I am so glad you're here, Dr. Ann has told me so much about you and I can not wait to meet you both! I had to run in to the lab to take care of some errands but these are your keys. Helen, you're in charge of Floor 3; Ian, you're on Floor 4. We have a few days for you two to settle in and us all to get acquainted before the students arrive, I left a list of the students on your floors in your room. I'll be back this afternoon sometime to say hi, show you around, and answer any questions you may have. I think we should go ahead and take care of your physicals for the week tonight to get them out of the way, but in the mean time feel free to make yourselves at home! Kisses! ;-*

The two of you both grab your keys and make for the stairs. The rest of the first floor is mostly comprised of a large common room with a few clusters of couches, a TV here and there, and some tables scattered around. A pair of large closets flank the stairs are labelled Storage and Records. A placard by the stairs indicates that the Kitchen, Laundry, and Large Activity Room are downstairs while Bedrooms and Club/Rooftop Patio are upstairs. Wondering why you didn't take the elevator, you and Helen lug your possessions up the stairs, Helen peeling off on the 3rd floor saying, "See you in a bit, Ian!"

"Can't wait!" you call back to her, already halfway up the next flight.
