Getting back to the mall

As you pulled into the mall's parking lot, the silence was a welcome change from the previous night's chaos. Ritter carefully helped Charlie out of the van, propping him up against his shoulder. You and Cassie began unloading the supplies, your arms laden with bags and boxes. The warm sunlight cast a gentle glow over the deserted parking lot, starkly contrasting the stormy darkness that had shrouded the night before.

You walked alongside Cassie, your eyes meeting in a brief, intimate glance. The memory of the previous night's passion still lingered, and you could sense the unspoken connection between you.

As you walked alongside Cassie, the sound of gravel crunching beneath your feet filled the air, punctuating the silence. You both reached the mall entrance, and Ritter carefully maneuvered Charlie through the broken sliding doors. The warm sunlight gave way to the cooler interior of the mall, providing a welcome respite from the heat outside. You and Cassie followed closely behind, your eyes scanning the deserted corridors for any signs of life or potential dangers.

You come to the barricade to the mall basement. You bang on the sheet metal, yelling, "It's Alex. We made it."

An eye briefly looks through the peephole. Then the barricade is removed.

Jake says, "It looks like you brought some newbies."

"We had to wait out the storm last night. We found some survivors," you reply.

As you walk in, you introduce Cassie and Charlie to the group.

"Thank you for taking us in," Cassie says.

"Charlie needs some medical attention. I did what I could for him," you say, getting on the opposite side of Charlie from Ritter to support him.

The rest of the survivors help put the supplies into the storage room to the side.
