"I might be able to speak with Headmistress Naylor," Valerie's face brightens noticeably and you wonder how often she's used crying and her pretty face to get her way. "But -" you pause significantly "only if you are completely honest with me." You tell the tearful brunette, "I can't go to her with only half the story."

The girl looks stricken at the news, her smile once again dissolving into emotional distress. "It was just....just a misunderstanding..." she sobs, reaching for your arm with her perfectly manicured hands.

"What was, honey." You find your voice softening in spite of your determination not to let this young woman's appearance and tears affect you.

"We were doing some team-building activities with a couple of the first-years." Valerie explains as her hand squeezes your forearm, like other baseball players your arms are twice the size of most regular men, and this young woman seems to appreciate them even as she tries to explain what happened.

"Things got a little out of hand, Coach, but not like those other girls were saying."

"What do you mean 'out of hand' exactly Valerie?" You ask as you pull your arm out of her grasp. "This sounds a lot like hazing to me."

"No, Sir!" Valerie protests earnestly. "I promise you it wasn't like that. It's just a team-building thing that all the girls do." She wipes away some tears smearing mascara from the corner of her eyes. "It's just that pervert Mr. Carter came in just at the wrong time and..." She hesitates for a second and then changes gears quickly "...and the other girls lied about it."

"OK, Valerie." You tell her and take her hand in yours, as you try to get her attention. "Tell me about this 'team-building' activity, oh and what this Mr. Carter did when he found you." You can feel the strength in her hands, but unlike your rough skin, Valerie's hands are smooth and soft. It seems hard to believe she could even hold a bat with hands this smooth.

"It's something we all do." The girl explains. "It's not hazing, no one has to do it, but I try to be a leader, and encourage the other girls. You can ask them...ask Sondra -she'll tell you."

"What is it that you all do?" You ask again squeezing her hands firmly to get her focused on the details that so far she's been **** to share.
