“It’s part of a technique I learned at the American Studies symposium last month. On one of the panels, someone mentioned the importance of vocalizing your frustration, especially with something new. Eliza, my TA, was just grading her first set of quizzes and well… was frustrated.”

Lena pauses. “I see. Well perhaps in the future wait until your colleagues have left the office for such sessions in the future? You’ll have to let us know how it’s going at the next department meeting.”

She brushes past you and returns to her office. You let out a sigh of relief when you hear her door close. But, you think to yourself, I guess I have permission to continue my work with Eliza so long as it’s after hours. And maybe even work with more students in addition to her.

You go back to your office to finish up for the day and realize how strongly it smells of sex as you open the door.
