The rest of the day went without much out of the ordinary, just some boring lessons from his tutor.

No, it was at dinner when the next event occurred. Ephraim, Cassandra, and Esmeralda were sitting at the head of their long table, eating their supper.

Well, Ephraim and Esmeralda were, in any case. Cassandra was playing a little with her food, gazing at it with a dead look.

Ephraim glanced at her, swallowing, then asked, "Is something the matter?"

"Yes, you've barely touched your food," Esmeralda echoed with concern in her voice.

Cassandra sighed, leaning back in her chair for a moment. She then said, "I'm fine, just... Lost in thought."

"What about?" Ephraim asked, taking another bite.

Cassandra was quiet for a moment, but then she took a deep breath, and said, "Well... I know that father was an Auroran and all, but..." Turning to their mother, she cleared her throat. "I'll be frank, mother. I think father went and messed up our curriculum."

Esmeralda raised a brow at this. "Really? How so?"

"Well," Cassandra said, tenting her fingers on the table, "I've always wondered why we were taught so much of Aurora's history while our tutors neglected telling us much of our own."

Esmeralda frowned, getting to her feet. "Well, this simply will not do," she said with a huff. "Enjoy the rest of supper, I've got some business to attend to."

As the Queen left the room, Cassandra gave Ephraim a small smirk. "And just like that," she said smugly, "I have made our lives a little more tolerable."
