Chapter 44 by Fever Dreamer Fever Dreamer

Aaron considers his options

Get Modular With Souls

A thought struck Aaron, and he grabbed the multitool to reinspect the instructions.

The effect of the red tweezers looked very ambiguous, but he had raw material to experiment with and plenty of time to do it in.

Aaron grabbed all four souls and dropped them back into empty glasses. Using Sasha and the peach's mostly unaffected souls as a yardstick, Aaron could tell that Natalie's had lost maybe a third of its brightness and the potato was about half as bright as that.

Which implied that Natalie had lost exactly as much humanity as the potato had gained. If he added them together, they'd make a complete 'human' soul.

He shuddered. Gross. But also cool. But also gross.

He couldn't be entirely sure until he tried, but it looked like the red tweezers could be used to remove and transfer... qualities? Traits? That was the best he could make of it.

To test, he went back to Natalie's body and reached into it with the tweezers. They sank into her skin without resistance, and he could feel in the back of his mind a strange mix of textures in her body. If he focused his mind on the attribute he wanted, he felt certain strands become more... real?

Aaron grabbed and tugged, and pulled a thin wisp of light out of Natalie's body at the same time her hair turned pure white.

"Oh, shit" he said to himself.

After a brief pause, he pushed the strand into his own borrowed body and watched as Sasha's hair changed tint to a mix of her own and Natalie's.

Aaron could feel the tweezers inside him as he rummaged around - not painful but certainly unsettling, and he would need to keep this in mind if he was going to use it on anyone conscious. Concentrating again, he pulled and saw his hair change fully to match Natalie's. Pushing the new thread into Natalie's body, her own hair flushed with colour as the new pigment took root.

"A new way to dye," Aaron chuckled before switching back. He had the basics, and he was confident he could do the same to souls.

How fucked up is Aaron willing to be?
