Generic Optional Exposition

(note: this is meant to serve as an explanation for how these laws work in any of the universes that don’t have specific in-universe explanation, or in combination with exposition that only works for certain characters. This isn’t needed to understand the story, but I figured someone would be interested. Also it’s written like a news story- and very similar to the base story exposition- because it seemed fitting enough.)

A new system of laws have been passed globally, legalizing slavery under very specific circumstances. While each country has its own specifics, exceptions, etc. they can all follow the same basic principle and be summed up as such:

In any situation when any citizen is responsible for saving the life, liberty, or monetary stability of a legal adult, whether purposeful or not, they are granted full legal control and ownership over the individual they saved. This control and ownership includes, but is not limited to, being able to request labor, sexual favors and activities, possibly self-harming activities, etc. This also includes being able to control the diet, location, and freedom of mobility of the individual and extends far past it.

Though it would likely be rare, those capable of legally gaining slaves can also be enslaved themselves, through the same process. In those situations, the theoretical enslaved individual would still hold direct ownership over whoever they were in legal control of before being enslaved and would still be able to acquire new legal slaves. However, in any situation where they and their owner disagree on commands for said lower-ranked slaves, the higher owner’s command would be the final word.

Said legal ownership and control can be relinquished at any time, through a reportedly simple process that is currently being worked on by world leaders.’ It is unknown when the layout for the process will be finished.

Due to the silence of the world’s leaders, it is unknown what spurred them into drafting and creating these laws. There are currently no solid theories on what caused this, primarily due to the inclusive nature of the laws- them applying to everyone, rather than those in power.

As of now, there are no restrictions on who can be **** into legal slavery, outside of the law not extending to children, meaning the elderly, pregnant, and disabled are all subject to be victimized in this manner.

Due to the full global co-operation on the laws, it seems unlikely that they will ever be overturned or otherwise ended, outside of the possibility of mass, global rebellions.

While governments haven’t issued guidelines or suggestions to ensure one’s safety, we recommend that potential victims stay inside if possible and arm themselves in whatever way they deem necessary, legal or otherwise.
