Gear and rest

The first stop the pair made was the Lounge's armory. It held a large collection of weapons and armor that the Hunters had either bought, collected on their hunts, or simply made in their own forge. In the back was a large selection of enchanted and rare items that were for special use only. None of the enchanted section held anything that Venus could really think of as needing in the sewers under the capital city, so she ignored that section and went for the normal gear.

Rondo was a big guy, even in human form. Even still, his wolf curse allowed him to be faster and stronger than normal humans. If things got too bad, he could always change into his beast form. In the confined spaces under the city, the Lizard Men would be at a major disadvantage. Being a beast race, they had little knowledge of how to properly forge weapons. Silver weapons would most likely be beyond their grasp, so killing a werewolf would be almost impossible for them.

With this thought in mind, Venus outfitted Rondo with two heavy maces. Both had simple handles wrapped in leather for a good grip that would be less likely to slip if blood flowed down to them. The heads were heavy steel that had been designed with many flat surfaces with the top being thick and working its way down to a thinner bottom that ended about a third of the way down the metal shafts of the maces. It didn't take much skill to swing around something like that and the former smith easily lifted both weapons.

When she started looking into armor, Rondo just shrugged the idea away. Unless they cut his head off completely, there was little chance of him dying. After a few tense moments of his wife saying she would cut him off from sex, he finally agreed to the lightest of the leather armor they could find.

After that, Venus and Rondo set out to the open air market. She bought supplies to last for the trip and then sought out some specialty goods. She found a merchant that dealt in herbs and bought some that she knew the smell from them could drive off or irritate lizard type monsters. Next she bought some small vials and some oils that would break the herbs down and leave a gas of the incense. Once back at the Lounge, she made up six small vials that when broken, would release a cloud of gas that would either run off or disorient the Lizard men. She used some wax from the Lounge to seal the vials and made sure Rondo took half of them.

With this done, Venus and Rondo headed for her room. Rondo wanted to have some fun, but Venus turned him down knowing that Jillia would be up before sunrise waiting for them.
