John finally unclasped his hands and looked down from the ceiling.

“I’m going to need a coffee to think more about this.”

He had a goal in his mind, now he needed to determine the direction and path needed to reach that goal.

He soon got out of his cubicle. He was headed towards the coffee machine that was placed in the break room. His mind was still busy thinking and lost in thought while his legs were carrying him along the way.

Soon enough, he reached his destination. However, just as he was about to enter through the door, he suddenly jolted and stopped, just in time to not crash into the person heading out of the break room. He didn’t notice the person that was walking slightly faster and in a hurry due ot his lost in thought state.

John observed the person he almost bumped into, black hair, brown eyes, fair skin… it was Sabrina. She was holding a cup of coffee in her hand, smoke was rising from it and dispersing into the air.

John was glad he didn’t crash into her or else that hot coffee would have been all over him.

At the same time as he was feeling glad, Sabrina’s voice that was more like a shout entered his ears.

“Ah!”

Some of the hot coffee had spilled on her hand and was also dripping onto the floor. Apparently, she had jerked back due to someone suddenly appearing in front of her which caused the hot coffee to spill and burning her hand.

“Sabrina! Are you alright?”

John hurriedly took the cup of hot coffee from her and led her back inside the break room.

“Huu…I am fine.”

Sabrina practically hissed through her closed mouth, traces of tears were gathering at the corner of eyes but did not fall.

“I’m sorry! I was not looking where I was going.”

Even as he spoke, he led Sabrina to the couch and she placed her purse on the table before sitting, wincing, and frowning all the while.

“No…it’s fine. I was also in a rush…”

Her hand was burning, and it hurt a lot. Sabrina was barely suppressing the tears from falling while she spoke. She remembered getting burnt like this once before in her childhood, but she did not remember the pain. Now though, she was sure she would never forget this vivid pain.

Thankfully for her, the pain appeared to be reducing a little with time to .

At that moment, she heard John’s voice, a classmate, and a coworker of hers. She could also see his worried gaze, he really looked concerned. At the same time, she also got a good look at him up close. His hands that were holding her were strong, and his gaze was sharp.

Even though they were classmates and even coworkers, they had little opportunities to mingle. Their relationship barely even reached the acquaintance level.

“Good. You should cool the burn with cold running water for at least 10 minutes. It will help alleviating the pain and also prevent risk of getting scarred.”

John had tried that before himself, and it really helped so he didn’t hesitate to share that information right now.

“Right…I should do that.”

John was about to help her, but Sabrina chuckled lightly.

“Ha, Thanks but It’s fine. I can go by myself, my legs did not get burned.”

After she had left, John quietly said to himself.

“Well, that wasn’t in the plan.”

He still remembered his original purpose in coming here.

He moved to the coffee machine and started pouring himself coffee.

It was then he noticed something on the table – it was a purse that Sabrina had forgotten behind.

Maybe if he looked through it, he would find something.

‘Should I….?’

It was risky, Sabrina could return any minute.
