Game Night

One night per week my wife and her mother gather for a game night. All 3 of us are incredibly competitive people and these activities bring out the worst in us. This is compounded by the fact that we often bet money on games to keep things interesting.

One game night my wife called me, saying that she would be late from work and would miss out. Not wanting to put a damper on the evening, she encouraged me to proceed with game night without her. I had never played with just her mother before but I relented.

I called my mother-in-law to the living room and let her know of the situation. She frowns and says “That’s too bad that my daughter will miss out. But we can still have fun, just the two of us.”

I ask her which game she would like to play. She winks and answers “I’m up for anything. I just hope you went to the bank and bring your A-game. Because tonight I’ve got a feeling that I’ll be winning the shirt off your back.”
