You quickly move over to Gali, heading over to her. You put your hands down on the table, leaning against it as you grin.

"Hey, Gali?" you say.

"What?" Gali says, looking up at you with a sneer.

"Can I talk to you?"

"Ugh, why? What the hell do you want, Jack?" she says, spitting out your name as if it was an insult.

OK, you're on the right track.

"I was wondering if you want to go hang out. You know, do something."

"Why the hell would I want to do something with you? I thought I made it clear I don't like you?"

You've got her on the hook! Time to reel her in.

"Uh... are... are you sure?" you say, stumbling over your words as you realize this hasn't gone as well as you wanted.

"Yeah, I am. How about you scram and leave me alone?"

Well, that was humiliating. You haven't felt rejection like that since you were in a school that didn't have a culture of hedonistic sexuality and wasn't made up mostly of horny teenage girls.
