GB96 - Carla's Way Part 2

At the end of the school year, you pulled up your grades and graduated without incident. You wouldn’t have done it if your mom hadn’t confronted you, and everything that you did was built on a foundation of getting organized.

Applying that to plotting against the bikers is easy, at least at first. You and Stef have to face the fact that you know nothing about these men. And you can’t exactly spy on them.

Fortunately, it’s shockingly easy to get information.

The Free Bois don’t operate in secret. They’re the source of weed and meth for most of the county, and they sell guns too. They must have an arrangement with the police, but the rumors make it sound as though Mr. Gibson’s **** has strained that. The deal was probably that the bikers could do business as long as they didn’t make any noise.

The **** of a well-liked mechanic didn’t go unnoticed, but nobody was trying to directly connect it to the MC, so things quickly went back to normal.

The bikers are based in their little bar on the outskirts of town, which isn’t so little now that you have made a point to scope it out. The building has two stories and quite a bit of square footage. It’s a shithole, but it’s got room. However, the Free Bois have now been in Gurlberg long enough that they’re starting to put down roots. It sounds like several have bought houses.

You have to buy quite a bit of weed to get this information, but nobody’s really keeping any secrets. It’s not as though these guys know that you and Stef are coming for them.

You also learn a little about how these gangs work: why they wear the silly vests and all that. It actually sounds cool if you’re able to separate it from the fact that these guys are assholes. There’s like this motorcycle mystique that clings to them. It’s the reason that their shitty bar is full and there are so many young women throwing themselves at the gang.

You’re starting to get ideas, but those ideas are for later. You have to think about the present.

The president of the club is named Gregory Harris. You remember him from the shop: a grizzled, older guy covered in tattoos. And there are only seven other members of the gang. Eight guys.

Gregory is in charge, so the assumption is that he’s responsible for whatever happened with Mr. Gibson. That makes him Stef’s target.

You sit with Stef on her sofa, not touching, in her house. The place feels empty without Mr. Gibson. The coffee table is covered in photos from drugstore disposable cameras.

Stef is holding just one of them. The girl in the photo is your age, wearing ripped jeans and a pink and blue jacket. Her hair is in a trendy side tail. You took that photo at the university while the girl was helping with a fundraiser.

Stef looks at you and holds the photo out. You take it back. It’s the first time you’ve seen her smile in what feels like a long time.

“Call Lily,” she says.
