Fundamentally

"Now, I really struggled to understand what I found so attractive about her. Her clothes weren't terribly revealing, her makeup was tasteful and subtle, while she was in good shape, she didn't have anything like an hourglass figure. I couldn't figure out why she turned me on so much!" John says. He looks to Shila and blushes. He isn't the kind of guy that's so forward about his sexual interests.

She affects the most gentle voice she can and says, "don't worry, it's nothing I haven't heard before, and sexual desire is nothing to be ashamed of."

He nods and looks at the short, tan carpet. "So at this point, I was really worried about my new power, you know? The immensity of it, knowing that I could change anything I wanted and that would just be the way things _were. _As in, if I wanted the dinosaurs to come back, and I've always liked dinosaurs, all I'd have to do is want it hard enough, and they never would have died out. And who knows what would have happened to humanity. Would we never have evolved? If I weren't specific, I could kill all humans! Maybe even myself. And I'm just so worried that I'm going to do exactly that, because I'll let myself have anything I want!" He was almost shouting at this point. But looking at the doctor's unaffected face, he continued.

"Right, so since I was thinking about my newfound powers at this point and keeping them in check. Not letting myself want anything enough. And she was so distracting. She was an enigma, and I couldn't help but be entranced. And I wanted other people to see her the same way I saw her." He pauses.

"'Want,'" Sheila says. "Was this 'want' enough? Are you saying other people started looking at her? Finding her attractive? There is a well known bias called a 'confirmation bias.' This means that if you believe something, you will take note of things that confirm your beliefs, and ignore things that don't."

"No, you don't get it. I wanted everybody to think she was sexy, and all of a sudden, everyone but the driver was watching her. And more than that, they all looked so predatory. Like they were all going to hit on her or try to get in her pants. Nothing so **** as ****, I didn't want that. But what I really changed after that, was I wanted her to want the attention. And she did. Immediately her clothes changed. Her neckline dropped until her small cleavage was on display, her pants became short cut-offs, her hair grew longer, and she was visibly drinking in the attention. She was making eyes at the guys around her, and even went over to sit by one of them! She wanted them. And now, she's going to go through her life like that. A totally different person than she was. Every interaction with every person is going to be different, and will have been different throughout her life."
