Fun in Pewter

You stepped out of the Pokemon Centre after finishing your breakfast. Mt Moon was going to be closed off for at least three days so you had time to kill until then, luckily Pewter was one of Kanto’s major cities. Time to have some fun.

You wandered the streets for a little while, the weather wasn’t too good so you didn’t want to spend too long outside. You stopped by the Poke Mart and picked up some potions and stocked back up on Pokeballs. You wound up spending some time there after seeing that the TV was playing an interview with the Champion, Lance.

It was a typical interview, in the run-up to the Pokemon league they always ran these kinds of interviews. It starts with the Champion and then they do the Elite Four over the next few weeks. They run the issues to let trainers know what they’re up against, the Elite Four don’t tend to get as much publicity as the Gym Leaders and though the Champion is well known their team doesn’t get seen often.

Lance answered a few routine questions before showing off his team: Dragonite, Salamence, Charizard, Gyarados and Garchomp.

“But Lance!” The interviewer quickly interrupted. “What about your sixth Pokemon?”

The Champion smirked, “I don’t have it yet. I’ll be collecting it from a friend in a few days. You’ll just have to watch the Indigo League later this year if you want to find out.”

The interview ended and you took off. The Lance interview definitely made things much more real for you. You’d ultimately be facing him if you want to become Champion and seeing his team chilled you. You just had to remind yourself that by the time you reached the Indigo League you’d be much stronger than you are now and you’d be ready.

You headed back to the Pokemon Centre deciding to wait out the Mt Moon closure. After all, lazing around your room watching TV is a part of the being away from home experience.

“Hey! Amber right?” You heard a voice call. Turning you saw a familiar blonde.

“Oh! Hey, Emilia right?” You asked.

“Yup, that’s right!” She replied, catching up with you. “How’ve you been? Good? It’s tough being in unfamiliar territory, huh? It’s great seeing a familiar face!”

You replied when you managed to get a word through. “I-I’ve been good! I managed to win the Boulder badge yesterday! And you’re not kidding, Pewter must be ten times the size of Pallet Town… How about you?”

She fixed back a strand of her messy hair. “Not bad! I’m going to spend a bit of time sightseeing before heading to the Gym. Have you been to the museum yet!?”

“No, I was just going to kill time in my room until Mt Moon opens up again, is there anything worth seeing in the museum?” You asked her.

“Oh, yeah there is!” She beamed, apparently they’re demonstrating some new tech to do with fossils, want to go?!”

You smiled and shrugged, “Sure!”

You and Emilia drifted around the museum, you were glad she convinced you to go. The exhibits were great but the thing that really blew your mind was the demonstration that Emilia told you about.

The bespectacled researcher approached this huge circular machine, it had a pair of sliding metal doors on the front as well as a drawer on the side with a numbered keypad next to that. The researcher opened the drawer and gently placed a fossil into it, he then typed a code into the keypad. The machine began to make a whirring sound and started shaking rapidly, this continued for a couple of seconds until the doors opened and smoke spewed out, when it cleared a Cranidos emerged from the machine.

“Behold!” The researcher announced, “The fossilised Pokemon has been restored!”

You managed to get a selfie with the Cranidos and talk to the researcher before heading out of the museum. You learned that the machine was going on a world tour but would ultimately be a part of the museum once the tour ends.

You headed out to grab something to eat with Emilia afterwards. You talked about your hometowns a little more, you said about growing up in Pallet Town, Professor Oak and of course Blue and she told you about Cinnebar Island. It was really interesting to hear about what it was like growing up in a Gym city but apparently, the main feature of living in Cinnebar was the constant fear of the volcano erupting.

As you were heading out a guy in sunglasses stopped you. “Hey, heyyyy!” He greeted the two of you. You internally sighed and you could tell Emilia did as well. “You two looking for a good time?” You immediately started to grit your teeth. “Well, if you are, there’s an event going on tonight, feel free to come along.” He winked before reaching into his jacket and pulling out a flyer that he then handed to you.

You quickly scanned the flyer. ‘PEWTER CITY LOUDRED RAVE’ was printed across the top, just underneath it another section read ‘Special guests Jhoto region gym Leaders Clair and Whitney’ with pictures of the two just beneath that. Across the bottom seemed to be the only real info that told you the location and to bring the flyer for entry.

You looked at Emilia who shrugged and smiled, “Why not? Sounds fun enough!”
