Fuel for the generator

Finding bottled water would be easier, but it's only a temporary fix. If you can get the building's emergency generator back up and running, you would be able to have running for water, at least for as long as the city's plumbing can keep up. You decide to have talk with Walter, the old maintenance guy. Luckily for you, he had an aparment in the building and was still around. "Hey Boss," he says when he sees you coming. "Is there something I can do for you?"

"Actually there is," you tell him. "I'm thinking my building needs some power. How about the old generator?"

"She's old, but she's a trooper. Just need some gas and she'll be good to go."

"Awesome. Then we just need to go out there and get some." The fat, bald man starts sweating.

"Uhhh, you wouldn't want me to go out there, right Boss?" Interesting. So even though he knows he doesn't have a choice one way or the other, he still feels the same about it as he would otherwise. Walter hasn't left the building since the zombies first appeared, too afraid of being bitten or shot to go outside. You toy with the idea of making him go outside against his will, but decide against it. He is too valuable here and he would just be a liability considering how out of shape he is.

"Don't worry, you can sit tight and wait for the fuel to come in." Walter is visibly relieved when you tell him he doesn't have to go outside. That makes you think about who you do want to bring. For sure you want a group big enough to fight off a group of zombies or raiders, and small enough to avoid too much attention. Also, it would be smart to bring the stronger men, while still leaving enough behind to defend the building in case of attack. Finally, do you want to go yourself? Your magical marker could be very useful, but it won't protect you from teeth or bullets.
