What does Lana say?
Fuck yes
Lana doesn’t dress it up.
“Yes,” she says. “I enjoyed it.” Her voice is still rough. “Thank you. For the night. It was… I don’t have a clean word for it. It was amazing.”
Adam looks at her for a second, then shakes his head.
“Don’t thank me like I invented it. It was Mia’s idea. She said your name. She set the rules. She told me what to do to you. Thank her.”
Lana turns to Mia. It is harder than thanking him. Mia is still against him, hand on his cock, looking like the person who owned the whole night and the morning after it.
“Thank you,” Lana says. “For asking. For watching. For not pretending it was something nicer than it was.”
Mia nods once. “You’re welcome.”
They get dressed without talking much. Lana finds her black dress on the floor and pulls it on with nothing underneath. Mia puts on one of Adam’s shirts and underwear. Adam pulls on sweats. In the living room the daylight makes last night look almost theoretical, except Lana is walking like she still has him in her.
Lana already has a cab coming. She says so while she drinks water at the counter. They wait by the window.
Mia is the one who starts it.
“He fucks like that at home too,” she says, not looking away from Lana. “That’s not a special-occasion cock. That’s just him.”
Lana huffs a tired laugh. “I remember. I also remembered wrong. He’s worse now. Or better. Depending on who you ask.”
“Worse,” Mia says. “He doesn’t get polite. He gets greedier.”
“The throat,” Lana says, and then glances at Adam, color in her face. “I forgot how little he cares if you can breathe.”
“He cares,” Mia says. “Just not in the way you want him to.”
Adam sits in the armchair with his coffee and grins into it. He doesn’t add a story. He doesn’t deny any of it. The grin is enough.
Mia notices first. She kicks his ankle.
“You’re enjoying the reviews.”
Lana looks at him and shakes her head. “He’s been grinning since I said amazing.”
“I heard you,” Adam says.
“We know,” both women say, almost together.
The cab pulls up outside. The horn is short, impatient.
Lana gets up from the chair. At the door she pauses, looks at them on their own furniture in their own morning, and something almost like a normal goodbye tries to happen.
“I’m going to think about this more than I should,” she says.
“I know,” Mia answers.
Lana leaves.
The apartment is suddenly only two people again.
Mia and Adam sit on the couch. She puts her legs across his lap. For a minute they listen to the quiet.
Then Mia turns her head on the cushion and looks at him.
“Who do you want next?”
