Chapter 7 by Split_Agony Split_Agony

Well, are you in?

Fuck yeah!

You don't want to sound too eager, but you do want to help. You've fought the dead a few times now, so you feel you're ready for this. Soon the team mounts up in two Humvees and heads out. You ride out through the empty streets. Here and there, a car lays burning.

There's no one around. This city has been pretty much devoured overnight. You get to a store front with a smashed out front window.

"Right, you two, check the store. I think I saw someone inside. I'll stay here and watch the Humvee," the captain says.

You and Betty get out of the vehicle. You hold your gun at the ready. You step inside the store, checking every corner. You slowly move up the aisles, being as silent as possible.

"I heard something," Betty says.

You turn around, pointing your gun. Betty is behind you, her gun raised too.

A small boy, no older than ten, is behind the counter. He has a large gash on his forehead, but is otherwise uninjured.

"Who are you?" he asks.

"We're here to help," you say. "What's your name?"

"Nick," he says.

"Okay, Nick. Why don't you come with us. We'll take you somewhere safe," you say.

He nods nervously, following you out the front door to the Humvee.

"Quick, get inside," you say to Nick.

You look around, listening for the faintest of sounds. Nick gets in the back of the Humvee with you, and the captain slams the door before hopping into the driver's seat.

Captain Pacco heads deeper into the city. You look out the window, scanning for any movement.

"You okay?" Betty asks.

"Yeah," you say. "What's the plan?"

"Our mission is to head to the old National Guard armory and stock up on guns and ammo," Betty says.

"We can do that," you say.

It's a good plan. With proper gear, you could probably do a lot more.

"We should also look for more survivors," you say.

"Of course," she agrees.

You never noticed before just how well endowed Betty is. Her flak vest barely fits around her enormous breasts, yet her waist is pleasingly slim.

"What are you thinking about?" she asks.

"Your body," you say.

"Pervert," she says and laughs.

You laugh with her.

You look at her face. Her face is perfect. She has a small nose with fair skin. Her cheeks are rosy and plump. Her lips are full and red. She has a small chin. Her blonde hair is cut short in military style.

"You're staring," she says, noticing your gaze.

"Sorry," you say.

"No fucking in the back seat. There are children onboard after all," Captain Pacco calls from up front.

"Like you wouldn't jump at the chance to watch, Chief," Betty calls back.

You all laugh. The rest of the ride is filled with light conversation. Soon, the armory appears in the distance.

"Shit! Zombies! We're going to have to fight our way in. Get ready," Captain Pacco says.

You level your rifle through the window and fire off a succession of accurate head shots. Seven walkers drop. Betty takes down another five. Captain Pacco drives the humvee through the opening and into the armory. You and Betty both dismount and continue firing, providing cover for the other Humvee. Then you yank the gate shut and lock it.

"We'd better hurry. This gate won't hold long," you say.

"I had no idea you were such a good shot," Betty compliments.

"We were never in enough danger together for you to notice," you say.

"Hah, fair enough," she replies.

You all run towards the armory. You can hear the moans of the dead behind the gate, and you have to **** yourself not to look back.

Captain Pacco heads in first and you hear his submachine gun firing. You and Betty quickly follow. The three of you quickly head down the hallways, passing the dead. Captain Pacco takes out a few more of them, before he turns to you and Betty.

"We'll need the armory commander's keycard to get to the weapons. Split up," he commands.

"Got it," you both say.

Captain Pacco leads you to a door on the left side of the hallway. You head in and he continues in the opposite direction. Two more zombies show up, but you dispatch them with accurate head shots.

You reach another door, and with a sigh you try the handle. It's locked, of course, so you move on. You reach another door and open it up.

Another room with a bunch of equipment, though this time it's all destroyed. Piles of rubble and smashed equipment is all you see.

Suddenly, a voice screams out, "HIDE!"

You dive behind a wrecked piece of equipment. Incredibly, a soldier is still alive.

"What's going on? What happened here?" you ask.

"An army of zombies attacked us. We tried to fight back, but we were no match," the soldier explains.

"But you're alive? Holy..." You drop down behind the piece of equipment with her.

Your heart is racing. You didn't expect anyone to be alive here.

"How long have you been hiding here?" you ask.

"All night," she says.

"Do you know where the armory commander is?" you ask.

"I don't know. We got separated." she says.

Suddenly, you hear a scream from the other side of the building. It's Betty. She's being attacked by a zombie.

Should you really go running headlong into danger to save Betty?
