From Afar

Narwhal hovered a bit closer, but not anywhere near close enough to let Bitchfit do something she’d regret. Closer, Narwhal noticed from above that they were putting rather crude and poor graffiti art of genitals on her statue. How lovely.

“BF!” Narwhal called out, voice carrying in the night. Both Bitchfit and her accomplice looked around a bit before finding her above them, perched on a forcefield. Bitchfit looked alarmed for just a brief moment before her expression settled into a sneer.

“Well, well, well,” Bitchfit yelled with that nasally whine of hers. “If it isn’t the sparkliest bitch in Toronto.”

“Move along,” Narwhal said, the words firm and bereft of any threats if they didn’t. If their past encounters were anything to go by, Bitchfit would know what would happen if she didn’t. A swift and precise defeat and a night or two in jail.

The villainess’s friend was saying something, voice too quiet for Narwhal to hear but it put a bigger smile on Bitchfit’s face. “I don’t think so! This is our city just as much as it’s yours. You think just because you get some hideous statue that you can fly around and boss people? Fuck off.”

Narwhal sighed. Fine, if those two wanted to do this the hard way then so be it. Narwhal positioned a forcefield, blunt and round like a mallet, out of view from them, strengthening it before sending it towards their ankles to knock them off their feet. Except the forcefield faded at the last second. Before she could parse what happened, she was falling, the forcefield beneath her now gone.

The wind was cold against her and she realized her “costume” had disappeared too, leaving her naked and exposed to the elements and the hungry eyes of the pair who watched her descent.

Something caught her before she hit the ground, grabbing her around the ankle. It was clearly one of her forcefields, crystalline and reflective, but far cruder than something she herself would make, it’s shape like a three-fingered hand that slowly lowered her to the ground before dropping her on a patch of grass with a thud. Bitchfit and her companion were sprinting over, whooping and hollering.

Completely naked and her power not wanting to cooperate, Narwhal had to act quickly.

•Call for backup! It would take some time for anyone to get here at this hour, but this had the possibility of going south fast and following protocol was paramount.

•Shrug it off and fight! Narwhal wasn’t one of the top capes in the world just because of her power. Standing up quickly, making a show that she wasn’t to be messed with, and driving these two off was the best way to ensure nothing awful happened.
