Friday, and another round of lessons.

You start with the Upper Sixth ‘B’ Stream. Brianna is still not back and one of the other girls volunteers to take her homework assignment round.

Late morning, Upper ‘C’ Stream, the reprobates. No, you can’t call them that, not even in your head. If Abigail wants to label them that, that’s her business. To you they’re just another class. A challenging class, but another class.

Their homework has shown you what you’re up against. Disappointing doesn’t get close. You were used to teaching university students. And you thought some of them were bad. But university students have some interest in the subject. The way some of the girls have done their homework, you get the get the feeling they don’t. There’s errors in all of them; some technical, some stylistic, and some, worst of all, factual. What did your predecessor teach them? You’ve received conflicting ideas why Miss Wandering was sacked, but no-one has told you she was a bad teacher. The opposite in fact. Yet the ‘C’ Stream suggests she was.

Either that or they’re a bigger challenge than you realised.
