This is the story of a Korean family in the UK, a father and mother having raised two daughters. One now off to university, the other off to professional life as a second year solicitor. The father Jeong owns and operates his family’s traditional Korean restaurant, inheriting it when his father passed. Jeong is a third generation UK resident, his father also born in the UK. They made a nice life for themselves, owning and operating a very successful high end restaurant, and this is where Jeong spends much of his time. His wife Yujin traveled to the UK at 15, being a spectacular student. She met Jeong and they hit it off, becoming pregnant when she was 17, and getting married to avoid scandal. She left university to raise their daughters, eventually taking on part time work as a legal aid when their daughters were old enough. Their daughters are Seoyun, 21, and Jia, 18. Seoyun is a second year solicitor, having graduated from Cambridge. Jia is a third year student at Cambridge, having entered university quite young for being a spectacular student as her mother and sister were. And having followed them to the same university. The parents aren’t traditionalists, insisting their daughters date Korean men, as they themselves are not traditional in their values. Jeong dated a black women for two years when in college, and Yujin dated an American man, and also briefly had a lesbian fling with a British woman. So the family is welcoming to new ways of thinking, and this leads them down a path of scandal and sexual adventure that shakes the family to their core.
