Free falling...

You simply turn and run for the balcony. Going as fast as you can you leap over the rail as Baal booms in his deep voice. "No!"

Time seems to slow as you plummet to your ****. Part of you regrets not saving Melody. You hope Baal was lying about her bleeding out. Of course you are no longer in a position to do anything about that.

The ground below you is coming up frighteningly fast. As you prepare yourself for impact something hits you hard. You struggle with consciousness fearing Baal has caught you again. Blackness overcomes you.

You open your eyes wondering what horror has befallen you. A well dressed Incubus is holding you up. A young women sits in front of you at a desk. You surmise this is the other tall building you saw.

The woman at the desk looks up. "Welcome to the Law offices of Lust, Pride, and Greed. What can I do for you?"

The incubus in a deep sexy voice growls,"My boss has an eight thirty with Ms. Kai."

"I'll buzz you in."

The incubus brings you to an ornate elevator. You contemplate making a run for it, but you are intrigued enough to let this play out, especially with Baal still seeking you. The incubus pushes the seventy ninth floor button. You are amazed by the sheer number of floors, six hundred, sixty six in all.

The elevator is fast, and you reach the seventy ninth floor in seconds. The incubus leads you to a rather nondescript office. Inside a a demon who looks a bit like a Satanic Madlock greets you.

"Well hello there Jody Kai. My employer has a proposal for you. I believe you desire a return to the earthly plane?"

You've been down this road before. "What's the catch?"

"My employer wishes a demon dead, you seemed to be the ideal candidate to do the job."

"So you want me to kill a demon? And, that's it?"

"More or less, killing this demon might be a trifle challenging. To this end my employer has also written in a clause to give you superhuman powers, at the cost of a bit of your soul. He suggests you avoid needing to use them. The contract is here."

He tosses you a relatively simple demonic contract. At only fifty two pages, it takes you only three hours to read. It appears to be on the level. Though what puzzles you is the demon you are to kill is "the first one you see". You loath leaving Melody to Baal, but a better offer than this is unlikely to come along.

You look up from the contract. "Very well. I'll do it."

"Excellent! Initial here, and here, and here, and here... " He goes on for quite some time until your hand is sore from initially and signing the thing.

"So, how does this work?"

"It already has."

He claps his hand and the world spins around you. You suddenly find yourself face down on cold asphalt.
