Four Little Words

After that particular tournament, time together became quite a valuable commodity for Kyoko and Caroline. While they hadn't quite announced the fact they were dating (Japan wasn't quite there when it came to same-sex relationships), their fans were quite an observant lot.

The few times they could, was usually at tournaments or cons. The former was usually not the greatest of times - mostly because they needed to be focusing on their matches. But that didn't stop them from getting in the little moments - a text here, a pre-paid dinner there. Stuff like that.

And of course, can't forget about the romantic text messages. Wouldn't quite be a secret sort of relationship if you didn't have a bunch of those.

Caroline: How are you feeling, dear? ❤

Kyoko: Wonderful. How about you?

Caroline: Better now that I've heard from you. ;)

As for the cons, those were a whole different beast. Part of that was the fact that they were legitimate excuse to actually go see each other. Secondly, it also gave both women a chance to enjoy themselves minus their popularity. Or at least try to avoid it.

Which brings us nicely to Caroline in her own hotel room. While Kyoko had told her she was going to this particular event, she had told a little white lie to her girlfriend about not coming to the con. Mostly so she could surprise the lolita gal with a special something.

"I wonder what Kyoko will think of my costume?" the lady thought, taking a deep breath. This was the latest in her line of 'Lady' cosplay based on the cards she used - this one in particular based on Queen Harmony. It seemed quite fitting in retrospect. Everything from the massive, towering gown with no less than four layers of petticoats decked all out to her 9 in heels had the regal aspect to them that she was always wanted.

The finishing touch took the form of a mask based off of Queen Harmony's face. Supposedly, only the person she chose would get to see her beautiful face. Seemed kind of fitting right now.

"Let's head on down."

The walk to the elevator and the ride down brought with it unease and dread in the lady. Unlike any other past cosplay, this one was personal. Any wrong st-

"Caroline?"

Of course, Kyoko had taken the same elevator. So Caroline took a deep breath, digging out the ring box. It was now or never.

"Kyoko, will you marry me?" she whispered, finding her girlfriend's arms around her. A whisper followed, with the mask getting pulled up.

The rest of the con was a complete success.
