Chapter 2 by Overcharge
Who Do We Follow?
Former lesbian Amelia
The camera pans across the sterile, gleaming white halls of the National Museum of Re Education, before settling on a woman who radiates a terrifying, sun drenched perfection. Amelia Proud stands before a massive holographic display of a vintage 2020s pride flag, now displayed behind thick, reinforced glass like a relic of a primitive, chaotic age. She is the picture of the New American Woman: her skin is flawless, her hair is a cascading waterfall of platinum blonde, and her eyes possess a vacant, shimmering clarity that suggests a mind completely unburdened by the heavy, dusty weight of "opinion."
"Welcome, citizens, and honored guests from the Great Beyond," Amelia purrs, her voice a melodic, high pitched chirp that sounds as though it has been surgically scrubbed of all sarcasm. She smoothes her tight, form fitting pink uniform over her hips, her movements practiced and performative. "Today, we walk the halls of transformation. We look back at the Great Delusion the era of the 'Lesbian' and we thank the Founders for the mercy of our current clarity."
She gestures toward a darkened exhibit titled The Era of Confusion. Inside, the lighting is dim and moody, showcasing reconstructed living rooms from the early 21st century. "It’s hard for us to even imagine it now," she giggles, a sound so bubbly it feels almost artificial. "The stories we tell our daughters... about women who thought they didn't need men. They lived in such a state of perpetual, starving tension. They were so focused on each other, so lonely in their 'sisterhood,' never realizing that the true joy of a woman is found in the strength and command of a man."
Amelia leads the tour group toward a centerpiece installation: a life sized, hyper realistic diorama of a "Conversion Clinic." The exhibit depicts a group of women from the old world, their faces etched with a mix of defiance and confusion, as they are systematically taught the joys of submission.
"I remember reading about them in the old journals," Amelia continues, her expression softening into a look of mock pity. "They used to call themselves 'lesbians.' They thought they were finding freedom in one another. But they were just... lost. They were like starving people trying to eat shadows." She pauses, her eyes widening as if she’s recalling a personal, profound epiphany. "I was lucky. My grandmother was one of the last 'Old Order' women. She used to tell me stories about how women used to vote, how they used to work in offices... and she would tell them with such a sad, confused look in her eyes. She knew, even then, that they were just playing at being human. They were waiting to be claimed."
She stops in front of a massive, interactive screen. "And now, as our new President opens our borders to the world, we are so ready to show the global community what a truly liberated woman looks like. We aren't just survivors of the old world; we are the perfected versions of it. We are the vessels, the muses, and the most loyal subjects the world has ever seen."
As she speaks, a group of young, local women all under the age of twenty pass by in the background. They move with a synchronized, graceful docility, their eyes downcast, their conversation a soft, rhythmic murmur of praise for the local district governor. Amelia watches them with a maternal, almost predatory pride.
"The world is about to see," she whispers, leaning closer to the camera, her breath fogging the lens slightly, "that there is no greater intellect than a woman who has finally learned to empty her mind for her King."
